A homeless girl living by the docks of her island waits for someone to come back until the cold winter forces her to accept shelter from the nice old man with a hunchback. There, she discovers a fireplace that the old man refuses to light. One night, she strikes a match and finds herself in an entirely different world. In her hand, is a magical lamp that keeps her there until the light burns out. As soon as that happens, she is back in her world and the dead fireplace, but this time she knows. She knows that like a phoenix, a world that can rise from those ashes...But the real question is--does the old man know?
