Ever since Atlas Obsidian was a child, guilt lingered on his conscience wherever he went. It was all-consuming, nesting in his heart, dragging him down whenever he was happy. Atlas wanted nothing more than to escape from it. The only problem was, he didn't know what was causing it.
As he grew older, he attributed the guilt to his inability to live up to people's expectations of him. After all, who would have imagined the only son of two of the world's top heroes wouldn't have a gift? In a world where 90 percent of the population had superpowers called gifts, Atlas was part of the small minority without them.
After Atlas' mother's passing, he is sent to Canada by his grief-stricken father. Atlas is forced away from his old life at the American Hero Academy into a completely new environment, where he attempts to conquer his demons to make a difference in the world.
