Stories are like any other artefact : sometimes, they break down. Fortunately, since the Fragmentation, some people have learned how to fix them. Crevice-dwellers, polyglot storytellers and other Non-Space wanderers take on this task, often at the cost of their lives.

Echo can fix pretty much anything. However, despite their determination to share their knowledge with Kara — their intern — they are soon faced with their own limitations. Everyone has their own blindspots ; by visiting them, the protagonists discover parts of the Structure that they would have never hoped to see.
