Dearest reader,
Thank you for choosing to read my novel or whatever. I originally wrote this for fun in high school and ended up spending a solid amount of time on it, so not publicizing it would just feel like I’m doing my past self wrong.
Here are some things you should know before diving in.
These pages were originally handwritten, so I’ve decided to retype them for the sake of legibility. However, as a result, some otherwise easily drawn out expressions, etc. will inevitably be lost in translation. So if you see something that seems out of place, there's probably an explanation in the description. I've digitally redrawn all of the doodles included in the original copy, and links to them will be left in the description of any episode that needs it. Basically I’m trying to keep it as true to the actual moment in which I wrote it as possible, you get it. That brings me to my next thing, actually.
There will be grammar/spelling errors, cringey/edgey text, run-on sentences, unfinished sentences, forgotten/misplaced letters, random unrelated thoughts, and everything else you would typically take out in post. Why do I keep it in? Well, that’s just what Past Danny wanted, I guess. I gave myself the chance to edit everything between the covers after writing them, so in order to cooperate with my past self, I am obligated to keep everything as it appears in the original copy. Forgive me. That’s pretty cool though, seeing as if I change nothing, my past opinions and means of expression will remain unadulterated. For reference, 2014 marks the spring semester of my high school freshman year.
Finally and most importantly, you gotta know that this isn’t a work of fiction or a memoir, and most importantly, this isn’t a diary (or a journal, for that matter). Like, from the moment I started writing this, I made it a point that this was meant to be read by someone, so keep in mind that you’re not invading my privacy and that I’m not shoving my past personal life in your face, kapeesh? Basically read if you dig, don’t if you ain’t. Additionally as this writing is dated, anything written does not necessarily reflect my current beliefs. All edits that I make will be shown in brackets [like this], and if there is an image that is supposed to be shown or a reference that you will not understand, I will mark it with an asterisk (*) and put an explanation or a link to it in the description at the bottom of the page.
That’s about it, I guess. Adore it it, abhor it, psychoanalyze it, or put it in a stew. Let me know anything you want me to know at thatguywiththejeanjacket@gmail.com.
Catch ya later!
Noteworthily yours,
Danny Najjar of the present (August 20th, 2017)
