What’s a comic project without some solid cover art including a character collage?
Pictured from top to bottom, left to right:
Shadow Dragon
TsuMeTai, Kip
Ben, Aur, Alert, Rook
This was the first time I’ve ever drawn Rook without his helmet, and is basically character concept art for his new look. He won’t be introduced for a while, but I always enjoy drawing a centaur when I get the chance!
Shimmer was an experimental webcomic project that launched on April 6, 2004. It ran for a number of years until I finally had to admit it had fallen into hiatus after 2012. Two years later, in 2014, I attempted to convert the story into fiction – called Shadows of Zot - which allowed me to expand upon the original story presented in the comic. I wrote about 19 chapters of that before pausing for RL and other projects.
However, the story of Shimmer has never fully left my thoughts. I’d drafted out a number of ideas for the original comic that I never got to complete. And when I re-read some of Shadows of Zot recently, I felt like I had some good material here, if I just organized some of the story’s plot logic.
This would take more than just a re-draw of Shimmer page by page. This Redux is not a re-creation of the original, but a complete rework. Another try at telling this tale – third time’s the charm, right?
