Description

I lived with a monster. A beast that fed off lies.

Standing in front of a tall mirror with my features reflected. Black, messy, and curly hair sat atop my temple. Bleak, dull, and pale eyes cradled by shallow dark half-moons. They glared back at me, I saw the same monster that I lived with. Since Phil happened, every single day, I woke up and my feet would drag me in front of the mirror.

I forgot the last time when light brightened my features. Since he left, they became shadowed by the past, replaced by a demanding monster. After I fed him my lies, he took a liking to me, and grew greedy.

"Good morning," I murmured, and the monster copied my words. When I tilted my head, he also moved. "Did you miss me?"

"You're spoiling me," he replied. "I missed your lies. Hurry, I'm hungry." He was persistent and demanded for more lies, especially for mine. The monster craved it, I craved it.

When I blinked, a black shadow hovered behind the reflection. It grew. I gasped and took a step back when the monster's face contorted into a sneer-like grin.

As the monster vanished and my reflection remained, I wondered about the future. "Since I'm basically a living and breathing creature filled with lies, can't he eat me instead?" I grimaced, combing my fingers into my hair.
