It's been a good run but I won't be continuing the comic book anymore. Lack of motivation, emotional exhaustion, just don't feel it anymore and the plan for this story requires my total buy in. I don't even have enough to buy in for myself. I was going to Fan-X this year and cosplay as some of my characters as a last ditch effort to get some motivation back but a little too late. Damn, I was really hoping this was going to be it, the time I really got to with on it and finish it. Thanks to anyone that read it and found some slight enjoyment from it.
Now that Chapter One is out, I can fully show the evolution of Lynx aka Maria Kolchek.
Hero? Broken?
A far cry for when she started back in High school as a female Wolverine knockoff and using the color format for my girls cast off Josie and the Pussycat doll.
From there to the Afro period coinciding with my sisters bad perm for her Quinceanera, but still rocking the same outfit.
To my first iteration in college using Photoshop, the first Photoshop, but sporting the more Gestapo uniform to fit the change in my atittude.
To further exploration of Lynx as a soldier in a dystopian United States military
To exploration of her anatomy courtesy of my life drawing classes in college.
To the last iteration before this one where she is still pretty much the same including the pointy helmet
To where she is now.
She's the protagonist of my story and always has been.
Now she is set to fly.
With the last couple of chapters put out, I felt i necessary to explain a bit about the world Lynx and the other's live in.
This is a United States bereft of democracy and taken over by fear, money, racism, sexism, bigotry, prejudice and the oligarchs.
If you are not White, Christian, or part of the upper class (the Oligarchs, rich, politicians, scientist, engineers, educators, and military officers, etc.) you are nobody. You are useful only as cannon fodder, as a disposable product. Better off dead.
This image of a bleak, scary future for the United States has haunted me since 1992.
As time has passed, the fear has ebbed and flowed, but never quite gone. The fear that our democracy is a fragile thing needing the right spark to make it go away never went away.
Now, we find ourselves in a potential United States that seems closer to becoming this nightmare than ever before.
Does this flag make you think of something else? It should, that is what happened in the world I created. Nationalism took over, fascism took over, totalitarianism took over.
The only remnants of what once was lies in the color of the star, it still holds the old Red, White and Blue.
But everything else is the akin to the Iron Eagle, the Black and White Dogma that governs the nation in Vanguard.
But the comic is hopefully about hope and overcoming this as I hope we can overcome what is happening in our country.
