lol, sorry! this message is just to notify subscribers so that they know what's going on! also, don't unsub just yet! i've got to get my website set up first, then you can check it out there!
Hi guys! I haven't been updating for a few reasons. For starters, it's been finals season, which is always hell. However, I've been doing some thinking and I have some good news and some bad news.
the bad news is that the yue bay guardians is being cancelled.
the good news is that im rebooting it to be better than ever before!!!
i made alot of mistakes when first making this comic, but they're mistakes i'm glad i made, because i learned from them! however, they're such BIG mistakes that it would be more efficient for me to just start over than to try and write around it. also, my old art is shit and i'd be redrawing every page anyway.
another reason i'm rebooting it is because i plan on monetizing the yue bay guardians! i can't exactly do that in a copyrighted universe, so i'm gonna make my own! plus, i think it'll be more engaging and appeal to a wider audience that way. i'm going to get a real website, move off tapas, and if all goes well, publish book one! i don't want to spoil too much, but the major story beats will be pretty similar to the old ones, at least for book one.
in addition to changing the setting, i'm also going to be drawing in black and white in a more manga-esque style. i disliked how long it took me to make each page, and wanted the story to progress faster. in addition, i'm technically doing this for a class credit (i'm taking an independent project based course next year) so i'm working on a deadline. because of all this, i figured it would be better to make two high-quality black and white pages per week instead of trying to push out one page with full color and shading. plus, if i'm able to print (which i want to!) it'll be much cheaper to print in black and white than in color.
finally, i'll be renaming the comic. i don't want to say as to what until i have a better pitch worked up, but once i do, i'll release it here. stay tuned for more information!
hey, i hate to be "that guy," but if any of you guys could spare some money to commission me or support me on patreon, i'd really appreciate it. i won't be able to update this week because my personal computer is busted (again), and this time it's got something to do with the software, because i can't use it at all. i'm writing through my school computer, which is ALSO having issues, namely that, for some reason, it's registering as having "no battery," so i have to plug it in for it to even turn on. i'm trying to save up for a new computer, so if you could spare the money, i'd really appreciate it!
with a new computer, hopefully i'll be able to avoid all the issues that have been plaguing me for the past few months. i really enjoy doing this, and i want to be able to keep updating!
if you are interested, check out my patreon, or email me at enthusiasticbiologist@gmail.com for info on my commission pricing. until i get my personal computer fixed, i can only take writing commissions ($1 for every 100 words) and sketch commissions ($3.50 for a bust, $6 for a torso, $8 for a fullbody, and $10 for a fullbody + background.) every penny counts, and if you can't spare the money, that's okay too! you can support my tumblr for free as well! thank you so much for your time and support.
bad news: i lied about updating this week. something came up and i can't make it. :( good news: i'm almost done with chapter 2! i'm probably going to merge it it with chapter one to make a proper chapter one, because it fits more thematically. anyway, thanks for following!!!!!
hey everyone. i won't be able to update this week because my computer is pretty bust. it's not charging, and i don't know if it's the charger or the computer, because i've had issues with this computer in the past. right now, i can't draw, and i need to replace the charger, if not the whole computer. if you want to support me, i do writing commissions at $1 for 100 words. email me at enthusiasticbiologist@gmail.com if you're interested!
i really hope that the computer issues get resolved soon, and i can get back to updating!
that being said, commissions are still open, both for writing and art, because while i can draw again,. my computer is still falling apart at the seams. literally, the screen popped out on one side and im holding it together with duct tape. there isn't gonna be an update this week because of the aforementioned computer problems, but since i was about halfway through this weeks page, i can update next week, no problem.
so, the computer issue isn't really fixed, per se, more like, held together with duct tape until it breaks again. well, literally held together with duct tape. my computer is currently LITERERALLY being held together with duct tape. luckily, the software all still works, so it's just a matter of getting a new one before the whole thing breaks apart.
on that note, i'm going to be starting commissions and opening a patreon soon. i'll post more details when it's all finalized, but if you want to support the yue bay guardians and hopefully help me get a real website to host on, keep your eyes peeled!
it's the one year anniversary of the yue bay guardians (although i didn't start posting it here until june) and fittingly enough, i'm going to be overhauling the comic.
in terms of story, basically nothing changes. i made a few tweaks here and there, but most of the major changes are in parts of the script i haven't drawn yet. however, i am going to completely redraw the first eight pages, and make edits to all of "beginnings." (what you know as chapter one.)
i'm also going to be combining "beginnings" and "the newsboy" into one chapter. frankly, it makes the story flow much better. my goal is to make approximately 13 chapters, which can each be treated more or less like an episode of the source T.V. show.
so, yeah! between the computer issuse, school pressure, and a bit of a depressive episode, i haven't been able to publish. luckily, spring break is next week, so i should be back then! i have some fun stuff planned for you guys.
Hello! The Yue Bay Guardians will not be updating today for a few reasons. First of all, almost all of my free time has been chewed up this week because of an AP paper, so I've barely had time to drawn ontop of all my schoolwork. Second of all, I have to complete an application for CSSSA. (the summer camp, not the school.) With any luck, I'll be able to go this summer and learn animation from professionals! So, I can't really update this week because the application takes priority. On the plus side, however, if I do get in, you guys might get a rough animation of an "episode" of the Yue Bay Guardians.
So, yeah. Don't worry, I'll be back on schedule next week, and I'm going to try and make it to the comic's one year anniversary (March 3, I believe) or finish chapter 2 without any more breaks. Whichever comes first.
hello everyone! sadly, something came up and i won't be updating this week. however, i'll be right back on schedule next thursday! (thank you, martin luther king jr. day.)
