Heyho! I'm a 30 years old wannabe comic artist!
I'm slightly obsessed with post-apocalyptic sceneries (especially those with a lot of gras and trees and stuff) and abandoned buildings.
Currently drawing a post-apocalyptic comic to gain more drawing skills, coming out of my comfort zone and getting rid of my manga style.

heyo guys!
small update about me and my comic and why it was so quiet around here.
the problem is my health:
last year my health was kinda bad again and in september i had to go to the hospital again, for 14 weeks (!) this time. i was discharged from the hospital a few days before christmas, even though my health was way worse than the day i was hospitalized. so, things are pretty tough this year and i'm still struggling with my health. the plan is to readmit me into the hospital in september, for at least 10 weeks, but my doc and i are thinking about readmitting me in a few weeks instead.
well, that's it regarding my health. unfortunately this is why i couldn't draw the last months. i want to draw sooooo so so bad, but i can't, because i'm on meds 24/7 and i feel kinda numb. when i'm not on much meds, i'm feeling too terrible to do something, even in my home or with friends/family.
i thought about uploading the sketches instead of colorful pages, but im not sure yet. feels like a hard downgrade. but at least it would be something and not nothing like the last year.
also, trying to focus on my art could help a little bit, says my doc. my head is so full with stuff though, i can't focus, even if i want to. so that's why im thinking about uploading at least sketch pages.
what do you think?
shall i upload sketch pages for now (of course i color them as soon as i get better again) or do you want to wait for the colorful pages?

It's great to hear from you! And oww, that's rough :( I'm sorry health hasn't been on your side... Really hope things will improve. About the art, I'm honestly curious about your story and would love to see it continue, even if it's sketches. And if drawing helps your health even a little bit, then by all means do it! Yesterday five years ago I started to work on Left Behind. First, I sketched two characters: Alex and Tyler. I had no idea what the story should be about (except the fact it should be postapocalyptic), but I thought "meh I'll just start writing". The story was supposed to be a novel and not a comic. But after working almost a year on the story, I wanted to see the characters on paper, since I only saw most of them in my mind. Interacting them with all the scenery and emotions and what not. So, five years passed and the family around Alex and Tyler literally exploded. Meanwhile I have a loooooooooot of characters, but the most precious one are these four on the sketch. Alex, his little sister Rachel, Tyler and his best friend Carlos.
Also, I never spend so much effort in one of my story-projects as I spent in Left Behind. I have multiple timelines for their past, for the upcoming events, even for the virus itself. I watched "world after humans" and similar documentions to get a feel what'll happen with cities without mankind. And I read a lot about microbiology, weaponry, health and vaccine stuff. Just to make it more realistic. But it was fun and even if it's not perfectly realistic, I guess it's good enough for a novel/comic project. So I hope you'll enjoy the world of Left Behind as much as I enjoy working on it.

the next page for left behind is almost done. i'm currently working on the last tiny details, then i'm gonna scan it and adjust the colors a lil bit. i guess i can upload it in the next few days. i'm also inking the page after that. the plan is to finish it until next month, so you have something to read after next time.
since the summer is almost over, i'm way more motivated to draw. i just love the autumn-weather... x) so stay tuned for some progress in the storyline hehe

i am. kinda.
i just wanted to tell you that the next page is almost done. just need to scan it and add the text in the speechbubbles. i'm very sorry it took almost a year to finish, but the last year was horrible. our family dog passed away, my "vacation" in the hospital und every week after that i had to visit two different doctors. well, i don't want to complain. guess my life is still better than the lives of a lot of other humans.
so... i'm confident of drawing more this year (and of course the next years as well). after the new page it'll get a little bit faster, because there are more conversations and i don't need to draw all the grass and stuff. i hope everyone of you is doing fine and see you on the next pages x)

So I just uploaded the first chapter of the sript and each day another Part will be published. In German, though ... I've already translated the prologue, but hell .... I've been so badly rusted since I'm out of school. Anyway, I'm working on a translation and hope I can handle it. But who can and wants to help, write me (I guess Instagram or Tumblr works better for chatting or something). I'd really appreciate that.
I'm also working on the next comic update. Half of the color is already done and as soon as the Global Event in Tom Clancy's The Division is over, I'm fully back to drawing on the comic.

just want to let you know why there're still no updates on left behind:
my health is still acting up a little bit. well, actually i feel way better these days, there're still a lot of things that need to be care of, but i'm on a good way i guess. so why are there no updates? the answer is: i don't know D: i think it's the heat. everything's so exhausting, even breathing is tiresome. can't wait for the winter... so i hope the heat is going to slow down a little bit (i'm living at the baltic see and the temperatures are on 25°C in the shadows already) and my motivation's coming back when the weather's a little bit colder or at least not so damn hot and dry.
besides, i'm thinking of something else. since the comic needs too much time to make any progress these days, i thought about sharing the script as well here on tapas. the problem is: it's in german :l i know some of you are germans too, but tbh it's a difficult language and i guess most people on this planet can't even say one word in german. don't get me wrong, i'm pretty fine with it :D there're tons of languages i would rather speak than german (proper englisch would be nice or russian sounds beautiful as well). i'm thinking back and forth and up and down about sharing the script for weeks now and this morning i thought "hm... i could ask the readers." and here we are:
are you guys (especially the germans among you) interested in reading the script?
to be honest, i'm nervous as hell, because i think my writing sucks and only my closest friends read the whole text (approximately 1300 pages in two books, the third one is on the way as well), but somehow it's important for me to keep you on track.
so let me know what you think.

I could imagine to translate some of it (though all 1300 pages would be a bit much).
Also maybe easing up on the backgrounds could help the progess (although I love your backgrounds). Or maybe get a co-artist for help (backgrounds and/or coloring).

as a fellow comic maker myself i know how hard it is, just take your time and enjoy the process, we are not making money from it anyway so we have to love what we make lol
