Let's cut to the chase. I'm Leyelle, an 18-year-old African-American and Dominican author-poet from Maryland, USA. I'm aggressively precocious so at age fifteen I became a published author for lyrical essays in a women's magazine, and in 2023 I won the H.G. Wells Short Story Competition Junior Category and became a recipient of the Turnill prize (humble brag.) My personality is 90% boss, but I'm passionate about telling the story of the other 10%, the crazy, ugly, and beautiful moments that hurt like poetry.

Well, I owe you guys an update.
I am so sorry I haven't posted anything for any of my stories in a while.
As you all know, "Damsel in the Red Dress" is currently on hiatus while I work on the third book, but I haven't updated "Sketchy Business" or "A Dozen Morning Glories" in a while either. I hope to get you guys another Sketchy Business episode within the next few weeks and keep updating the series more regularly, though I don't have a set-in-stone upload schedule for that series.
I also plan to finish "A Dozen Morning Glories" BEFORE I release book 3 of "Damsel in the Red Dress" to avoid balancing too many projects at once (I have learned my lesson.)
I'll try to get you guys more chapters of ADMG as soon as I can, but apologies in advance, as both me and my editor are moving internationally (from the Dominican Republic to two different U.S. states, respectively) and I'm not sure what our schedules will be like for the next several months.
Between burnout, studying for (and passing, fortunately) my teacher's exam, working "real job," preparing for a move, and struggling with my autoimmune disease which, over the last few months, has been worse than it's ever been in my life, I haven't been as consistent with my upload schedule as I'd like to be, but I hope to do better for you all soon(ish.) Thank you all for your patience, and again, my apologies.
For those of you who are curious, art and writing are my "real job" outside of Tapas, so I've had to balance writing the stories and making the art I share here with creating the stories and art I actually get paid for and, apparently, I am not great at balancing.
