Hello guys !
I'm here to tell you a little bit about my life right now and why I paused The Brightest Hour right off the bat.
First, like I've mentioned before, the 3 pages that I submitted as a first episode were originally made for a national contest, and guess what, I didn't get any prize. I like to say to myself that the results are corrupted and stuff like that (Well, it IS,) but I also have to admit that I've done things too harshly and let a lot of confusion reigning in these first pages so the jury couldn't understand what was happening.. It was really a big bummer for me at first, I really believed I'd get at least 2nd or 3rd place. But yeah, that's life for you, Anis, you don't always get what you want. On the other hand, it also made me realize that I still wasn't ready for THE big adventure. Creating a Comics from scratch, by oneself, is a huuuge project, I thought I was ready for the big jump but life (and some trustful friends) made me realize I wasn't quite ready yet and that I should work my drawing, coloring, composing etc..
So that's what I've been doing ! And it's CRAZY how fast a learner I've become, I'm not even buying it myself. Within a few days of hard sketching, creating, coloring, testing things; I could see that I had improved and faster that I could've ever imagined and it's huge motivation.
I wanted to share this illustration with you so that you can see where I am at right now and where I was at a few weeks ago, and hopefully, where I will be at in a couple of weeks.
So, the message here, is I'm working on myself, on my skills, on my projects, so that I can be full ready for the gigantic project that is The Brightest Hour, cause it really is a big matter for me, and I don't wanna do it half-assed and regret in the future. I guess fellow creators understand me a lot.
Maybe I will make other comics, 10 pages stories, or a little Slice of Life, to practice and give myself a routine in preparation for bigger things, so stay tuned !
