I met Cassidy at the front door. She handed me a house key and I helped her carry her bag over to her car.
“I’ll be at Sasha’s for the week. The kitchen is filled with mom’s favorite sick foods and the guest room is all ready for you.” Cassidy put her bag in the car and turned to me with a stern look on her face. “Now for the first few days, mom’s going to be pissed. Just hold out, you’ll get through to her.” She gave me a hug. “Good luck.” I hugged her tightly back.
“Thank you, Cassidy, you don’t know what this means to me. If this goes well you wouldn’t mind having me as a father figure would you?”
“Luc I love that idea, I just hope you can get mom to love it too.” I watched Cassidy get into her car and leave. I love that girl like she’s my own daughter. I feel protective of her and I want to take care of her. I hope pushing Danelle this way I can get both of them in my life for the rest of my life. When I could no longer see Cassidy’s car driving down the street I headed into the house. The moment I walked in I could hear noise coming from the back of the house. I walked back to Danelle’s bedroom and peaked in. she was asleep, curled up in a ball on her bed. I walked over to her bed and picked up the remote to turn off the tv. I sighed as I looked her over. She’s so beautiful when she sleeps, I could tell her nose is red and raw, her eyes are puffy. I put my hand on her forehead and could feel that she has a high fever. I pulled the sheets up over her and pressed a light kiss to her forehead before leaving. I picked up my bag from my car and headed to the back of the house to the guest room. It was small and the only color it had was from the sheets on the full-size bed. I set my bag down and took a seat on the bed, Keven called me a few hours ago and told me that Danelle was sick and I had to go over and take care of her. So I packed my bag and headed over. I hadn’t talked to her in three weeks since the party at Keven’s house. Keven had told me not to talk to her in till I had everything with Margret figured out. He had kept me updated on how Danelle was doing, it was hard not to call her or go to her.
My talk with Margret had seemed to go on forever. She met me at my lawyer’s office in Columbus. We talked about what she wanted and what I was willing to give to her. She cried and told me she didn’t want the divorce but I told her what she had done was something I couldn’t forgive and that I had found love for the first time and I wasn’t going to give that up for anything. With tears in her eyes, she signed the papers and we were officially divorced. I could feel a weight lift from my shoulders. Now all I have to do is get Danelle back.
