I’ve been having a lot of really vivid dreams lately. Not sure why. I’ve never been into dreams as having meaning or anything, and I don’t remember having any that stuck out before. It’s kind of nice, though — like I’m getting to visit some of those places I imagine. It’s better than painting, since they look like they’re supposed to instead of like the pigment I smear on a cheap piece of canvas.
I’m actually painting less than I used to — I don’t feel the need as much, you know? Like my dreams are giving me a little bit of escape from the daily grind.
Well, some of the time, anyway. I had an awful nightmare last night. Woke up covered in sweat and everything. It’s kind of the one reoccurring dream I have, actually. There was this movie that scared the living daylights out of me when I was a kid, and, every once in a while, it’ll pop back up from somewhere in a dream. It’s pretty silly when I think about it when I’m awake, but the dreams are still just as scary.
This one was different, though. For one thing, it was about as vivid a dream as I’ve ever had, right down to the way the place smelled.
Mainly, though, it was how it ended: This beautiful woman came out of nowhere and saved me. Literal knight in shining armor — sword and shield and flowing hair and everything. It felt like I recognized her from a movie or something, or should have; I’m trying to remember who she looks like, but I can’t come up with anybody.
I wonder if it’s symbolic of something.
