I've had a crush on the ice queen since freshman year.
It was the middle of the school year. Winter time was round and everyone was hyped for spring break. "Class!" our homeroom teacher yelled. "We have a new student, Lilith come in." She smiled as a girl with long black hair walked in. Her dark blue eyes were cold and mesmerizing. Her pale skin in contrast of the school uniform just look good on her. The tip of her button nose what red, probably from the cold. She didn't smile. She didn't look nervous. "Hello. I am Lilith Harper. I moved from London." she said, her accent confirming what she said. "Please, let all make her feel welcomed!" our teacher cheered. "Lilith, you can sit next to-" she looked around "Jasmine, please raise your hand Jazzy!" I slowly raised my hand. She glanced at me for a second and walked over to her seat.
She didn't look at anyone or talk at all. "Hey! you're from London, I've always wanted to go there!" I exclaimed. Maybe she was a bit shy, I'll break her out of her shell. The only response I'd gotten from her was a small nod. "Are you shy? there's no need to be, I bet you'll make friends in no time!" I encouraged her. She glared at me. "I don't want friends. All they do is hurt you." she said harshly. I winced at her tone. "I'll change your view by the end of this school year!" I said accepting the challenge. She just shook her head and let out a dry laugh. "I've been through some tough shit because of friends, please leave me alone." she said as the bell rung. She grabbed her bag and left the room.
I couldn't help but feel a painful sting in my heart. It was quickly replaced by determination. I couldn't stop thinking about her. Though all I've heard from her was harsh words I couldn't help but love her voice. The little accent she has got me swooning. Though all the looks she showed me was glares or small glances I couldn't help but love her eyes. I've never seen anyone with eyes like hers. I shouldn't feel this way to a girl who has been anything but rude but maybe something made her like this. Like she said, things happen to her because of other people. Maybe she has trust issues.
All I know is I will help her by the end of highschool. Mark my words. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I snap out of my day dreaming and try to write the notes Mrs.Franchester wrote on the board. I swear this teacher expects us all to be ether sonic or the flash. I glance over to where Lilith is sitting and see she was effortlessly writing what was on the board. I really need to know her ways of writing faster than time itself. I'd imagine her writing neatly in cursive, not giving a care in the world about the other people who struggle to become superman and write faster than light.
Mrs.F started to erase the board. I, along with several other students, started to groan. She just shook her head like juniors should start making our hands go on treadmills and gain speed. "It's not my fault you all haven't accommodated to my speed." she quickly glanced at Lilith and smiled. "Take a look at Miss.Harper she've learned how to write quickly, isn't that right?" she walked over next to Lilith and stood there proudly, as if she was a trophy. "Yes." she said. "What a teacher's pet! Why isn't she in a cage." a girl I hung out with whisper loudly for anyone around us could hear, including Lilith. My best friend, Drea, leaned over and whispered so only I could hear, "Well she's a gorilla, why isn't she at the zoo." I stifle a chuckle. The girl thought I was laughing because of what she said and smiled proudly. Idiot. I just shook my head and continued to listen to the lesson.
When there was a couple minutes of class left some people I hung out with and my friends were talking. "Hey Jasmine, I dare you, at the end of class, to ask the Ice Queen for her notes!" Ladasha, a girl I hang out with, said with a smirk. Me and my friends looked at each other, wondering what's the big deal about asking her. "Anybody who ask for her notes gets rejected so fast and ends up failing that class. The Ice Queens curse, haven't you heard about it." she says like it asking someone what two plus two equals. I sigh. People make up the most dumbest rumors about her, it's so stupid. "And why would you believe that?" I asked. "Cause it happened to me last year. I asked her for her math notes and she completely shut me down! I failed that class all year. The curse is removed when the year ends they say but I still been failing math." she explains. Is she really that stupid. Blaming some stupid myth for her failing math. I shook my head. "That rumor is not true, in fact I'll prove you wrong, if-" she cuts me off, "When." I give her a irritated glare. "When she says no and I pass the next test you'll give me a hundred dollars." I said confidently. I am pretty good with history, the lowest grade on a test being an 70 and the highest being an 93. "Ok deal!" she says.
The bell rings and everyone starts to shove things in there book bag, me doing the same. I need to get ready for cheer practice and then after that get the flip out of this hell hole. "Don't forget the bet." Ladasha whispers as she walks past me. I shake my head. Why do I hang out with her again. I take a deep breath and waltz on over to her desk.
"Hey Lilith, can I-" I think about the can I joke a correct myself quickly. "may I, I mean so you can't use that can I joke-" I said the last part that was meant for me to say in my head out loud. "look at your notes? I didn't get to finish them and I don't want to be a bother so-" she cut me off, "Yes." she said blankly. I blinked once, then twice. "Really?" I asked. I shouldn't have said that, given the glare she gave me. She went and got out a notebook and a really cute cat bookmark. "Only look at this page and give it to me by tomorrow." she instructed. I took the book from her and held it to my chest. I stared at her like a idiot for a while before she turned around and raised an eyebrow. "Is there anything else you need?" she asked. I tried my hardest to hide a blush. I'm glad my darker complexion help a huge part of keeping it hidden. "No it's just," I bit my lip, feeling nervous, "thank you, I really appreciate it." I let out. I smiled a small smile and quickly ran out of there.
I skipped my way over to the girls locker room. I big grin plaster on my face. I have put Lilith's notebook in my bookbag and I couldn't help but feel giddy that I'm the only person she has given her notes to. "Why so happy?" Drea asked, already changed into our gym uniform. We usually do our practices in our gym uniforms because there more comfortable and we don't want our cheer uniform sweaty and dirtied up. "Lilith gave me her notes!" I sang. Girls who overheard what I said gasped, including Ladasha. "WHAT! HOW DID YOU DO THAT?" Ladasha asked. "Maybe it's because I haven't been an ass to her." I suggested. Ladasha shook her head, like it's the craziest thing she ever heard. "Let my look at them!" she says, grabbing my bookbag. "NO! You don't deserve them! Here blaming her for you failing math now wanna try and finesse her notes." I said, grabbing it back and holding it in the air. She lets out a huff and walks away. I put my stuff in my locker and start our practice.
I started to walk home. I was tired from school and cheer practice and all I wanted to do is take a power nap in my bed. I opened my door and was greeted to loud singing. "MY MAN IS MY MAN IS YOUR MAN HER THAT'S HER MAN TOO!" my mom and older sister sang. "Mom! Darcy! I'm home mother truckers!" I yelled over there beautiful singing. My sister and mom walked over to the door and gave me a hug. "Hey baby! How was school?" my mom asked, letting me go. "It was great mom!" I said with a smile. "You get that girl you like number?" Darcy asked. "No, but she did lend me her notes." I replied. She just shook her head. "Why you all excited for that? Boy it's just notes." she said, walking back to the living room. I kicked my shoes off and followed her, along with mom. "Well I'm the first person she've ever given her notes to." I explained. My mom's face lit up. "She's warming up to you!" my mom squealed. "Y'all getting hyped for nothing, know what, Ima go to bed." she said getting up. "Lying ass, you bout to watch anime all night." my mom said. Darcy just let out a sinister chuckle, confirming what my mom said. "I got work tomorrow, going to bed good night!" my mom sang as she walked upstairs. I followed after her, heading to my own room.
When I got there I changed into a tank top and some sweatpants. I sat down on my bed and brought out my notebook and Lilith's. I opened to the page, expecting neat and clean handwriting. When I looked at the page I couldn't help but let out a small giggle. Her handwriting was a bit messy. It was hard to tell apart her V's and U's but for the most part it was readable. I quickly copied her notes and started with my homework. During the process her notebook fell and I picked it up. But on the last page of the book I saw a number on it. It read, 'If lost please call this number and return it to Lilith Harper'. I couldn't help but grin. I called the number, hoping that she would pick up. Crossing my fingers and starting to pray in my head the phone ring once, then twice. "Hello." I could hear her voice. "Hey! It's me, the girl who you lend your notes to!" I chirped. "How did you get this number?" she asked. I let out a quiet chuckle. "You wrote it on the back of your notebook, saying if its losted, call this number and return it." I told her. I heard her sigh. "Why are you calling me? I don't even know your name." she said in a cold tone. I winced a bit. Why she gotta be so rude~ Don't you know I'm human too~. "Hmm funny, we're in a class together. I would of thought you known my name. Well it's Jasmine, but you can call me Jazzy, or J, or-" she cut me off, the second time today. "If you don't have any business with me please don't call this phone." she spat, I could feel her glare. I should probably end this call short. "Heh, I just wanted to say thank you again and goodnight! Sleep tight! Don't let the bed bugs bite!" I sang before hanging up. I sighed and smiled.
I finish my homework and put everything away. I got comfy in my bed and started to drift to sleep. My thoughts solely on Lilith I felt myself get heavy. I fell into a peaceful deep sleep.
