Her ears were filled with the sound of chirping, the winding blowing against the grass. She hopped around, chasing the birds and skidding across stones. She felt uneasy, making her stop slowly... She looked up at the sky, seeing it turn black, white blinding her eyes. She shook her head, and looked around, seeing nothing but dead family and friends... The only thing that wasn't covered in white, was a path...Change...Sun beaming on the path...Sun....beams...path....
Hawk Frost awoke in a cold sweat, her eyes widened as they met her hallows ceiling. She turned to her her side, facing the wall. She took in deep breaths, her chest calming from the dream. Her eyes adjusted to the dim lighting, and turned over to face the entrance. For the first time in days she could see sunlight shining on the rocks of the cave.
She crawled silently out of the hallow, shaking her fur. She walked to the sunlight that glistened on the salutary's main hallow wall, smiling at it. Her ear twitched to a voice. "Hey Hawk Frost. You okay..? I heard you gasp like you were scared." a female voice said, causing the white and brown female to look back. "Oh, hey Skipping Stone...I'm okay....just a dream.." she told the blueish grey female.
Hawk Frost looked back at the walls, smiling at the glistening light. She stood from her spot, walking out towards the water fall. She took a few drinks, shivering at the cold. She looked out at the clear liquid wall, the light taunting her. She put a paw forward, a curious look on her face. She stepped behind the falls, looking out the barren, white land. She took a step forward, still in the trance of the light.
"Hawk Frost!" Skipping Stone called out before tugging the female back into the cave, breaking her trance. "We aren't allowed to leave, remember?" the blueish grey female said, her eyes widened in disbelief. "I know, I know...But I couldn't help it! It's like the light put me in a trance.." Hawk Frost said, her eyes going back towards the light. The same look appeared on her face as she went to turn towards it.
"Oh no you don't!" Skipping Stone said, pulling her back. "You are not leaving! We are salutary wolves. We HAVE to stay here!" Skipping Stone stated, her tail flicking behind her. "Aw, come on! It's not like we'll get killed!" Hawk Frost whined, her ears facing towards the wall of liquid. "You don't know that.." an older voice said. "What are you talking about Shattered Ice?" Hawk Frost asked, looking at the old white and blue female.
"You both are young. You don't know what we elders have lived through." Shattered Ice said, looking out at the water, taking in a few licks of it before walking away. "Yikes...But that proves my point more!" Skipping stone said, looking back at Hawk Frost. "Really? Everyone knows Shattered Ice likes to scare others!" Hawk Frost replied, a small smile tugging at her lips. Skipping Stone shook her head, looking back at the light.
"...Fine. We can go look. But no stepping off the rocks!" she said defeated. Hawk Frost smiled at her, and bounded towards the outside. She stopped and looked out over the white land, it begging for her to pounce. Her paws twitched at the thought of jumping in it, and it made Hawk Frost yearn to know more.
Her ears twitched to the sound of her friend speaking up beside her, breaking her from her thoughts. "Wow...No wonder you wanna come out here...But we should go back in. We saw it, and now we're happy, right?" Skipping Stone said, looking at the brown and white she-wolf, only to find her in a trance. Hawk Frost's blue eyes looked glazed as if blind, yet it was as if she could see more clearly then ever.
Her paws twitched eagerly, her tail grazing against the stones behind her. "I'm gonna go inside...Please come in...?" Skipping Stone said, a plead in her voice. Hawk Frost mindlessly nodded, not even knowing what her friend had just said. She lifted a paw, put it on the white surface, watching as her paw disappeared into the fluffy, cold ground.
She smiled at it, and stood, jumping into it. "Haha!" Hawk Frost laughed, running around in the snow, a smile on her face. She didn't pay attention to Skipping Stone's yowls, and only ran. Her vision went white, causing her to freeze. She closed her eyes, tightly, and opened them to only reveal a harsh blizzard.
She looked around seeing nothing but grey and white. She felt a tug at her leg, looking down at it immediately. She saw a small pup and dead mother, making her eyes widen at the sight. The pup tugged harder at her legs, it's body shaking from the snow. She looked down at it, and looked around. Her vision turned white once more, and then cleared. What she saw horrified her...It was the same thing from her dream... Dead wolves were everywhere, more then before. The only clear thing, was a path of light and stone where no body laid. She looked down at her leg, only to find the pup dead, yet still it was latched to her. She gently buried it in the white ground, and looked at the path once more. She took a step towards it, the feeling of warmth flooded through her as she touched the stone.
"Hawk...Hawk Frost....Hawk Frost!!" a voice called out, making the vision disappear. She looked around, confusion and fear flooding through her. "Hawk Frost!" a voice said, the sound of running coming towards her. She quickly turned to see Skipping Stone running towards her with a worried expression.
Skipping Stone stopped as soon as she reached her friends side, her ears back in worry. "Are you okay? You stopped moving, and I thought something happened!" she yelped, her body shaking. Hawk Frost turned to look at her paw that was placed where the path had been. The path was gone, and her white paw was surrounded by the fluffy white ground, causing her to become more confused.
"Are you okay Hawk Frost?" Skipping Stone murmured, breaking the she-wolf's train of thought. "Huh? Oh, yeah...i'm okay.." Hawk Frost said, looking back at her. "Let's get out of here..." Skipping Stone said, walking back towards the cave, Hawk Frost following hesitantly.
"I'll be in my hallow if you need me." Skipping stone said to her friend, quickly yet carefully bounding off to her hallow. Hawk Frost sighed, beginning to think about what she saw again. She looked down at her paws as though sad, yet was only lost in the depths of her mind.
That vision...what did it mean....? Are the stars telling me something..? Should I tell the others..? That path....in every vision it appeared....why...why that path...what could it mean...
She sat there for what felt like hours, but in reality was mere minutes. She stared blankly at the floor, not noticing that someone had taken a seat next to her. "Hawk Frost?" a male said, looking at her. Hawk Frost snapped back into reality, looking at the male. "Huh? Yes, i'm up." she said, clearly startled. The male chuckled, looking at her. "Okay then?" he said, a chuckle still in his voice. "Sorry River Stone, was lost in my thought." Hawk Frost said, smiling nervously at him.
River Stone smiled at her, a chuckle in his throat. "Was just making sure you were alive and not a statue." he joked, a smile on his muzzle. He turned away, leaving her alone in peace. Hawk Frost looked at the light, it continuing to taunt her. Maybe I can ask the hunters if I can go with them next time... she thought, smiling to herself. She turned quickly, walking towards the food pile.
She grabbed a small bird from it, eating it in just a few bites. Her stomach growled, her hunger not at all satisfied. She sighed, standing to walk away. She walked to her hallow, crawling into it. She let half her body lay outside it, looking out at the light again. Her paws twitched in anticipation, her legs lightly kicking. She shook her head, sighing. She curled up into the moss, closing her eyes in a rest. She hoped to have a clear mind, but her thoughts were only fogged with the vision.
