I looked at him with a quizzical expression, tilting my head to the side. Nodding my head cautiously in acknowledgment my quizzical look transferred to that of a guarded one. Though these people seemed…kind I didn’t know them. They emanated an air of power just by the way they walked, like a proud lion going to meet its challenger.

As if out of thin air the man was next to me in an instant, sitting in the chair that sat by the bed in which I currently laid. His powerful and callused hand gripped mine making it look puny and pale by comparison. I grimaced. Just as soon as it had come the hand released its hold as if touched by a white hot iron, leaving my hand to tingle where his touch had once been placed.

“What the hell were you doing out there? You scared us all half to death, Lillian has been in tears these past couple of days with worry. I was afraid she’d formed an ulcer or something. You were an absolute mess when we found you, flipping the truck a couple of times and nearly plowed that oak over. It’s amazing you managed to crawl even the five feet you did!” He growled, rubbing his face with his hands.

Lillian…that name meant something to me. I knew that name; I could feel it in by bones. Warm, inviting, always bright like the sun and never a doubt or worry. Slowly a face began to form in my mind, the face of a beloved friend.

It was as if my world had been reopened, a blind fold removed from my mind, or a cap taken off. My memories flooded my head making me wince for a moment. The man in front of me, he was Kye. The man before, he was Simon. Sweet innocent Lillian. I knew all of them, each and every mark on their faces and each expression they could make. I was so happy.
