Somewhere in Northeastern Europe
Two weeks after the ‘suspected’ lab explosion/Three days after United States releases information about explosion.
“Stupid fucking bullshit. I hate humans.” He grumbles under his breath as he throws more supplies into a backpack. He is so focused on his distaste for this assignment that he doesn’t notice the door behind him open.
“Damien, my man. Hear you got a big job from our Lord and Master. So, any juicy details?” Damien twitched when he heard the man speak from behind him. It wasn’t the fact that someone had come in; it was who that someone was. He turned to the speaker not surprised to see the grin showing an array of sharpened teeth. The demon before him not only used them for intimidation when necessary but took sadistic relish in ripping out throats of his competition. Cid was not a tall demon standing a meager 5’ 7”. He was the runt and Damien figured he used his teeth as well as other enhancements, well placed bribes and his information network in order to gain his position. Regardless he was still a shit in Damien’s eyes and Cid always knew it. In their society power and strength was prized but those with cunning could make it if they were careful. Secretly he hoped that one day Cid would not be so careful.
“Since when did they let kids on this floor Cid? Why don’t you go do us all a favor and go crawl back in your hole you weasel. I ain’t telling you shit.” Damien spat and continued to ready for his mission. He was picking up his last bits of clothing that the last resident left before leaving this world and putting them in the pack when Cid continued undaunted.
“See now that’s a problem there Damien buddy. You still owe me. I could always let our dear and not so forgiving Master know just how badly you fucked up last time.” At this Damien turned to stare at Cid with anger in his eyes, a burning hatred that the other demon could feel. Yet, despite the feeling of hate coming off Damien in waves or maybe because of it, Cid’s smile grew larger. “See I think we are on the same page now.” Cid walked closer to Damien putting one arm over his shoulder, daring him to do something, anything. “So, once again buddy. What is this important mission that you are going on?”
Cornered and not really caring at this point Damien sits on his bunk in the cramped space to spill. He hated having this little shit know about his mistake or rather how bad he had screwed up last time they were here. It was something Cid enjoyed holding over his head more than anything. “Our Master is sending me to protect his future Bride. A current human.” The last was said with such disgust. “A damn human, of all things. I use to command armies! And now I am regulated to babysitting a fucking human! They are such fragile pathetic creatures anyways. Why are my talents being wasted on a damn human?” He could not seem to help himself, all the frustration over his demotion, this assignment came out. He had been isolated, treated like a dog, go fetch this, and go do that, why? Why? All because of those damn humans to begin with!
“Oh man, that’s rich! Ha-ha. He is sending you? The hater of all humanity?! Oh fuck dude. And future Bride?? What the hell is that shit?” Cid was use to Damien’s outburst by now. However, this new assignment was amusing and enlightening to him. For just a moment the other demon caught a hint of Cid’s plan on turning this to his favor. Information on a Master’s future bride is worth a great deal; it can make or break a clan. It can make a demon rise in the ranks.
“You know what? This is bad enough without you adding to it so you better not get any ideas of fucking this up further for me. I have to go guard and protect some stupid humans or half humans; whatever the fuck she is. If I screw this up I am done. It’s bullshit! You got your juicy bits now get lost before I make you lose something else. Oh and Cid I mean it, absolutely no using this for your own gain!”
“Alright, I hear ya. I would never betray our Lord and Master Damien. Honestly I am hurt that you would imply so.” Cid feigned grabbing his heart and being hurt like a bad actor. “But Damien, you remember our deal right? You better not fall through on it or you know I can just start talking. Who knows who might be listening there buddy when I do.” With that parting shot Cid closed the door behind him.
“What a shit. Between him and this mission I am so fucked.” Damien took one last look around what had become his home for the past week and walked out the door as well. His next stop was the North American Continent.
