“Lunas today you’ve ranked up to rank 10.” The Rank Master spoke.

   “Yes. Will I receive a GEN?” 

   “You will receive a GEN, but also another reward. The missions you can go on will have more importance. And there is already one waiting for you.”

   “Understood. I’ll get on it right away.”

   The Rank Master hands me a new helmet, appearing as my current, but with a blue stripe on its side. I’ve been waiting for rank 10, and many don’t reach it. But I’m also aware of the risks of an AI being to knowledgeable. 

   But still I hesitate. Remember protocol. Step 1: close the eyes. Step 2: relax the muscles. Step 3: quickly equip, and remain calm. The Rank Master speaks. “Are you going to put it on?” I realized, I’m stalling, something my parents wouldn’t be proud of.

   My eyes shut slowly and I slow my breath. I give it a second and let the helmet rest in the palms of my hands. 3. 2. 1. Woosh. It fits perfectly, but of course it would. Then it begins. My eyes are on fire. I’m pretty sure literally. I try to remain calm, but I’m shaking like I’m overheating. Sounds of a robotic voice fill my head. 

   I shake and I feel my hair raise. Instead of screaming of the pain in my eyes, I kick the table I’m next to. But the voices start to come together, and the pain dies down. I can make out, GEN ONLINE.
