"Alex? What are you doing here?" he said as he walked past me into the kitchen.
"Um, your sister dragged me over here a couple minutes ago. Why did you bring even more food?" I say as I take his dish and put it on the already full table.
He gaze moved over to the table and said "Damn it Ashley, I told you I was coming over with dinner. Why did you make all of this?"
She stood there sheepishly and said "I wanted to make a good impression on my new neighbor here, but I didn't know what she likes so I just made a bunch. So now we have even more to choose from, come on Alex? That's what my brother called you right?"
I nodded my head, "You're Ashley right? Nice to meet you I guess, but you really didn't need to make all of this for me. What are you staring at Ryan?" He had been staring at me for a few minutes and it was really starting to bother me.
"Oh uh, sorry I just haven't ever seen you outside of work before and here you are in my sister's apartment. I'm just kind of in shock is all, so when did you guys meet?" And so I look at Ashley so she could start telling Ryan all about it but for some reason she just looked down and started giggling.
"Alex? Aren't you going to tell me?" he said. So I told him about earlier and her waking me up from my nap and he just looked at me in shock and then he rounded on his sister. "You did what?!" he yelled. "You can't just run up on people like that Ashley."
She was looking down dejectedly and I felt a little bad for her. "No, it's alright," I said, "I was just surprised is all. Um, there's a lot of food though so we should eat." So I sit down and the others follow, I really didn't feel like making conversation though so I just listened to the other two talk about what their parents were up to. Once I had finished eating I took my plate over to the sink to wash it but Ryan jumped up immediately.
"I got that!" he said as he rushed over and took it from me. Ashley got up and started putting the leftovers into tupperware containers and put them in the fridge.
"So, Alex, can I have your number? Just in case something happens with your apartment and you're not home or something." Ashley asked while handing her phone to me.
"Sure, I guess that's fine." I really didn't want to give it to her, but I figured it was probably better for her to text me instead of pounding on my door 5 times a day.
"Thank you guys for a great dinner, I'm gonna go sleep off all this food now. Bye!" I said.
"Wait, I'll walk you out." Ryan said as he was pulling his coat back on. He walked me out the door and stood with me next to my door and said "Alex, I'm really glad I got to see you tonight, I really hope we can do it again soon. I'll see you tomorrow." As he was leaving he smiled and waved goodbye, and I gave a little wave and ran in to my apartment.
