Going Out (part 1)

Going Out (part 1)

Feb 11, 2019

I slowly walk up to my door, preparing for the inevitable no I was about to give. I slid back the dead bolt and opened it up to see Ashley with a huge smile on her face.

"Hey Alex, I was just about to go out shopping but since I'm new to town I was hoping you would go with me." she said as she clasped her hands together nervously. "Oh, and don't worry, Alex already told me all about you so don't worry."

Ah. Of course he told her about me. The bitch who doesn't want anything to do with anyone else.

"No," I say and I close the door. About five seconds after I close the door she starts knocking again. I open it up for her.

"Please!" she says, "I won't bother you for a whole week if you go with me!"

Tempting and I did feel kind of bad for her, she was alone besides her brother. "Alright," I said, "but just this once ok?"

"Yay! Alright, come one let's go!" she says while grabbing my wrist.

"Wait, just let me grab my keys and stuff." Jesus she's pushy. I gather my things and follow her down to her car, she gets in the drivers seat and starts throwing clothes from the passengers side to the back seat. I climb in and she puts on some radio station and she starts driving us to the mall. Luckily she catches on to my mood and doesn't try to make small talk.

Music is the one thing I've always loved, it's the one time I can close my eyes and just let my facade fade away. For just a couple of minutes I can pretend that I can be normal. I can pretend that I've laughed and loved. I become lost in thought and start humming along with the song playing.

"You like them?" she asks.

"They're alright..." I say.

"Well they're going to do a show in town next month, I really like them too. We should totally go together!" she says hopefully.

"Oh, well I'll think about it." I know damn well I'm not going to say yes but I really don't want to hear about it for the rest of this shopping trip. We pull up to the mall and get out of her car, and walk up to the doors. I haven't been to the mall in years, I order all my clothes online so I'm really not sure how this is going to go...
