Why are they like this
This situation hasn't happened to me EXACTLY like this, but it feels like it has tbh. I'll come out to a friend in the evening over text, and the next day in school they'll be back calling my by my birthname. So then I have to basically come out to them again, going "Hey, would you mind calling me Mihael? Or Michael, or just Mi (pronounced "My") for short." I've had to have that conversation at least three times already. Please. Just call me Mihael. Or anything except my birthname, quite frankly.
It's actually quite hard at first to remember to call someone by a new name. The name that's always been use is imprinted on the mind and difficult to overwrite. Most often people aren't using the old name deliberately, they simply can't remember. That's why it's important to remind them. In time the old name will be overwritten. Every time someone uses the old name, simply reply with the name you want them to use. It's annoying but necessary.
Hang in there Mi, lots and lots of little steps.
