CW: Sexual Assault
(Note, I am not a woman but present as such for my own safety)
I got assaulted in July in the office and reported it immediately. It was handled well, except someone asked me what I was wearing. I have lost count of the number of times I told men to not touch me and they went ahead anyway. I have lost count of the number of women in my life who told me they had been assaulted. I have lost count of the number of times I was shamed for speaking up. I have lost count of the number of times I cried because I felt violated. I have lost count of the number of times I was asked what I was wearing. Stop shaming women. Stop reducing their experiences to minor things. And for the love of God if someone says not to touch them, Don’t. Fucking. Touch. Them.
Agreed: If a person says no, they mean no. Furthermore, it's not okay to just touch someone you don't know, or barely know, particularly without permission.
