Guard duty, the most boring job in existence. All I do is sit here and do nothing, nothing ever happens here. It's too peaceful. At least the scenery was always nice, the bright red glow of the Lava Corals, the soft aqua green light of the bioluminescent algae, the small animals swimming in and out of the coral gardens, and the huge shadow of some whale from above. But it was all too familiar, I want some sort of change to this lame life of mine. Even though I was the princess, everyone has to have some sort of role, be it guard duty, hunting, farming, or some other task.
I wanted danger in my life, something to rid of this boring royal life and gain a life of adventure. Maybe swimming out in the great unknown with only the Gigawhales as my company. Or maybe the Rypthimarian Fields! That place was always full of action. There are these massive tunnels in the ground that these gigantic creatures called Rypthims live. They like to come out and grab things, one of their favorite meals is the Gigawhale. The surroundings of their holes are a graveyard of all the other creatures they've grabbed. And the bones in the graveyard serve as a sort of ecosystem for bottom feeders, large and small. I've never been there though because "it's too dangerous". I mean I get it that it would be too dangerous for a normal Lymurian to go out there since they can't control large creatures, but I have the "ultimate queen" gene, which makes all creatures obey my every command. It also makes me live much longer than all the other Lymurians too. I've heard that the last Lymurian born with the "ultimate queen" gene lived for 10,000 years! Pretty cool, right? I mean I'm only 73 years old right now, which isn't even that long for a Lymurian. But-
Where is everything? It's too silent. The shadows were gone, and the sway of the plants stopped. The creatures were gone and the Lava Corals have retreated into their stone form. Suddenly a shadow appeared from high above. There was something above the surface of the ocean. I yelled to everyone to get back and head inside the main cavern. I extended my nails, pushed my fins back, and poised my tentacles in a position to show I was ready for battle. This is the first time anything this exciting has ever happened while I've been on guard duty! I hummed for a Gigawhale to come to my aid. I could see one in the distance. A huge splash could be heard, even from all the way down here. I grabbed onto the back of the Gigawhale and we began to ascend to see what all the commotion was.
We were nearing the surface when the temperature suddenly dropped. Why on Aquain was the temperature so low? It's the middle of the Summer. Visible chunks of ice were everywhere. Some large spikes of ice were even growing longer. What an odd phenomenon. I've never seen anything quite like this. Normally when something strikes the surface of the sea the water around it boils and we can collect rare metal fragments. I could see something black, it looked like metal, but not like any metal I've seen. And there was also a clear material. As I got closer, the temperature became even lower, so I stopped. I touched one of the growing ice pillars, my tentacle got stuck to it and it felt like it was burning. I pulled away and a part of my tentacle was ripped off. What was this thing? I hummed for a Lavarian Hishoske, a type of fish that produced a very high temperature. I waited a couple of minutes and one appeared. I told it to melt some of the ice so I could get a closer look. It began, but it was a slow process. I hummed for a bunch more to come. At least 20 more came and they started melting away the ice. They got to the source. It seemed like I was right, it was a metal object. But why was it producing ice? I found something I could tie a rope to and tied it to the Gigawhale. I hummed to the Gigawhale to pull it toward the city for further inspection.
Once we reached the bottom I tied it to rocks on the floor and called everyone out. I told them all that a freezing metal object came from the sky. They were all shocked. My mother, the queen, said I did a good job. Many Lymurians gathered around it and they commanded creatures to melt away the ice so that we could gather the metal materials. Almost 100 Lavarian Hishoske arrived from the depths of the ravine just outside the city arrived to help in our efforts. The Lymurian people grabbed large shells and began breaking away at the ice too. Soon. Enough we had reached the metal. It seemed as though it had been crafted by something into an instrument to explore in. Like a box that you would go into and go around in, it was an odd invention. One of the Lavarian Hishoskes found a way inside and began melting the ice on the inside of the metal box. But it eventually got to a point where the ice was growing faster than it could be melted.
We stripped away the rest of the metal and the meltable ice. By this point, we were all astonished because there was something that seemed alive in all that ice. It was a sense of ours to detect life, but this thing's life force was so faint I didn't even notice it until I could clearly see that there was something there. But it was a creature no one had ever seen. It had fur, like some creatures here, but only on one small part of its body. And it also seemed to be wearing clothing, clothing very unlike the Lymurian clothing. Not only that, but part of it was made of metal. This creature was not of Aquain, it fell from the sky, so it has to be from somewhere else. Was it a flying creature? Probably not, it was too small and didn't have any large flaps for flight. It didn't seem like it was built for swimming either. No gills or fins.
We moved into the cavern to a small room guarded by some Lavarian Hishoskes so that the frost wouldn't get to the rest of us. We also managed to melt some more of the ice and revealed what seemed to be a skeleton of this creature. Some Lymurians decided to study it and even managed to put it together to look like the living specimen that we had. I was intrigued by the existence of something like this and wondered if anymore existed. For a long time, I pondered the existence of these things and came up with a few conclusions. One: this being came from another world and was sentient like a Lymurian. Two: they were from a place I theorize that had little water since this specimen was not fit for sky or sea. And three: they were much more advanced than us.
