[SUMMARY: Keisuke nurtures Man-Shrimp in an attempt to heal him, but there's only one way to cure this sick little Man-Animal...
The deed must be done!]
In other words, he must be EATEN!
Some people have been confused by the top panels. Essentially, if you'll recall, Man-Shrimp has split open down his "belly seam" and is emitting noxious fumes. Keisuke bandages Man-Shrimp, thus sealing the "wound" tightly and preventing the smell from emitting freely.
Speaking of freely, you can see I was experimenting more here with my brush strokes, especially on the last half of the page. I wanted to create a sense that Man-Shrimp was losing his concrete connections to reality, almost dissolving away. But mostly I was just being free with my strokes. I also had my biggest accident ever when my cell phone slid down my drawing board and smeared a lot of the inking; I covered most of it up, but left some of the "effect" in the final word balloons).
I was also subtly demonstrating here that the Cigar and the Hat are important objects, core to Man-Shrimp's being (as well as to that of almost every other Man-Animal) .
The result of a freak accident which conjoined shrimp fisherman Les Clay with thousands of netted shrimp, forming them into one unique being, the Delectable Man-Shrimp has long been a champion of the watery world. However, the tides have changed in recent years. An ancient evil has taken hold of the ocean's depths. Man-Shrimp's friends and allies have died or vanished, leaving our diminutive hero to languish at the bottom of the sea. Will he rise up and meet the challenges that lie ahead?
