MinJoon showed Sam around the apartment a bit, pointing out bathrooms, extra towels and blankets, keys to the pool house and gym, and the balcony. Sam remained stunned at the total glamour of the lux apartment. One thread of MinJoon’s rug probably cost more than Sam’s entire existence.
MinJoon told Sam to make himself at home and help himself to whatever he wanted while MinJoon went to the gym for his nightly workout. MinJoon changed into a sporty looking workout outfit and packed a bag with a change of clothes, towel, and water bottle. As he grabbed the gym keys off a hook by the front door he turned to Sam.
“Do you go to the gym?” He asked. Sam shook his head.
“Oh. Well you look great,” Said MinJoon with a devilish smile. “Do you want to come? It’s a nice gym.”
Sam thought for a minute. Going to the gym sounded better then waiting alone in a strangers fancy apartment.
“Sure,” offered Sam. MinJoons face glowed as if he was hoping all along that Sam would join him. He then rushed down the hall to get Sam a gym outfit and a towel.
“Here,” Said MinJoon, procuring a set of sport shorts and workout top, “I’ll order you your own when we get back, but this should do for now. Sorry if it’s a little big.” MinJoon told Sam to bring a change of clothes so he could shower, and then they headed out. They walked past the pool, which was rippling quietly in the evening light, surrounded by waving palms and tropical planter beds. They walked a couple minutes down a pristine paved path, which wound primly through tidy beds of cascading flowers and elegant tropical shrubbery.
When they got to the gym building, MinJoon swiped a platinum key card across a scanner and the door beeped and clicked open. Inside was a vast array of equipment, most of which was currently unused. A middle aged woman was running vigorously on a treadmill in the back, listening to something on her black AirPods. MinJoon lead Sam to the men’s locker room, and used his key to open a roomy locker with MinJoons name on it. They stashed their extra clothes and towels, and headed back out to the equipment. MinJoon got right on a treadmill, and bumped the speed up as he started to run. Sam just stood awkwardly gawking at MinJoon, who had just removed his shirt. Sam couldn’t help but notice how built MinJoon was. He obviously came here a lot. Sam looked at his own squishy tummy and then back up to MinJoons chiseled abdominal muscles. Sam hopped on to the treadmill next to MinJoon, and started to jog. He instantly found him self breathing hard, and MinJoon was running twice as fast hardly breaking a sweat. Sam ran faster, tripped, fell face first, and shot off the back of the treadmill onto the floor. MinJoon leapt to his side grabbing Sam by the hand and easily hoisting him up.
“Sam you ok?” He asked anxiously, checking Sam for damage.
“I’m fine...” mumbled Sam, his face bright red. He tried not to look at MinJoon bare chest which was now inches from his face.
“Try this one,” suggested MinJoon, gesturing to an excersise bike nearby. Sam didn’t want to try it, he was tired from his three minutes on the treadmill. But, to impress MinJoon, he climbed up on the bike and peddled. He surprised to find how easy it was. He peddled faster, imagining how strong he must look. MinJoon chuckled and pressed a botton on the bikes control panel.
“You have to turn it on, Sam.” Explained MinJoon kindly, holding back his laughter. Sams face burned with embarrassment and his calves burned from the difficulty to turn the peddled now.
Sam tired quickly and gave up. He limply slid off the bike and sat on a weight lifting bench near MinJoon. MinJoon noticed him sitting and turned off his tread mill. MinJoon swaggered over to Sam, shirtless and sweaty.
“You ready to go?” He asked.
“Whenever you are.” Replied Sam, shyly averting his gaze from MinJoon’s exposes upper half.
“Sounds good,” smiled MinJoon, “I’m just gonna grab a quick shower, ok?”
Sam followed MinJoon into the locker room, thinking he might take a shower too. While MinJoon went to restroom Sam started taking off his shirt to shower. Right then a young man carrying a gym bag walked into the room. Sam pulled his shirt back down and waited for the dude to leave, but the guy didn’t seem he was going anywhere. MinJoon returned and saw Sam holding his towel and staring there. MinJoon looked at the male stranger and then back at Sam
“Hey, uh, do you want somewhere private to change?” MinJoon murmured out of the strangers earshot.
Sam nodded and looked around the locker room. There were no changing rooms or curtains anywhere. The showers, though very nice and clean, didn’t even have walls in between. MinJoon took Sams towel from him and held it up like a curtain.
“I guess this is the best I can do for you.” Apaologized MinJoon. He politely looked away from Sam so the blonde boy could undress. Sam felt horribly awkward. MinJoon was really close to him. Sam slowly removed his shirt and then his shorts. He hesitated, feeling horribly exposed, and then removed his underwear.
“Ok.” Said Sam shyly.
“That guy left, you go ahead and shower,” Said MinJoon, “I’ll sit over here until your done.” MinJoon sat down with his back to Sam on a bench, after hanging the towel up. Sam tried to shower quickly, hardly washing his hair. He was terrified someone was going to come in. Sure, if he was a straight dude he wouldn’t care about be naked in a room with other guys, but no. Sam turned off the water and grabbed his towel, wrapping it tightly around his waist. He scurried to the locker and started pulling on his clothes without even drying off. Before Sam got his shirt on MinJoon returned to warn Sam someone was coming in. Sam could see MinJoon was distracted by Sams bare upper body. MinJoon tried to politely keep his eyes away, knowing Sam was shy.
“Finish getting dressed while I shower, then we can go home.” MinJoon murmured distractedly. Sam slipped on his shirt just before a middle aged man walked in. MinJoon started getting undressed right in front of Sam, who turned away awkwardly, face red. MinJoon stripped completely and stepped into the shower. Sam sat by the locker to wait, staring at the tiled floor. Shortly MinJoon appeared again, dripping wet and with his towel around his waist.
“‘K Sam, Ill just throw on my clothes.”
Sam got up to give MinJoon more room, and accidentally stepped on the edge of MinJoon’s towel. The towel fell down around MinJoon’s feet, fully exposing him. Sam tried to turn away, but it was too late.
“Sorry!” He squealed, hiding his face. MinJoon left the towel on the floor and put on his boxers.
“It was an accident!” Sam squeaked, covering his face.
“Really?” Joked MinJoon, making Sams face burn.
Sam kept telling him self frantically he didn’t like MinJoon, that the guy was just a stranger. But a feeling was fluttering up in his heart. He was getting a flipping crush on MinJoon Kim and there was nothing he could do.
“You okay Sam?” Sam realized he still had his hand over his eyes. He quickly dropped it to find MinJoon fully dressed and standing anxiously in front of him.
“Y-Yeah.” Nodded Sam, averting his gaze and getting his stuff together. They packed up and left the gym together, and headed back to the apartment. It was quite dark by this time, and Sam felt nervous walking down the dark path. Since Sam was a baby he had feared the dark. He always slept with a light on and hated going outside at night. He unconsciously shuffled closer to MinJoon as they walked, and MinJoon’s hand brushed against his. Startled, Sam looked at MinJoon, who met his eyes with a deep gaze. MinJoon could tell Sam was uneasy walking in the dark, and he smiled reassuringly. Then he slipped his hand into Sams. Sam flinched, and his arm went stiff. He forgot about the dark. He couldn’t process the fact that MinJoon was holding his hand. No one had held his hand before. MinJoon’s hand was warm and soft, and gripped Sams small hand firmly.
Sam relaxed, and his heart fluttered. He walked all the way back in a daze, only aware of the sensation of MinJoons hand.
MinJoon held his hand until they were outside his door, then he let go to get his key card out.
“You alright Sam? You look a bit pale.” Remarked MinJoon as they went inside, glancing worriedly at Sam.
Sam just nodded mutely. His mind was in frantic turmoil.
“Do you feel up to going to dinner?” Asked minjoon. “I was planning to take you out for dinner tonight, as a thank you for being my roommate, but I can also cook us something here.”
“I-i don’t mind...” stuttered Sam in scarcely a whisper.
“Then let’s make dinner here.” Said MinJoon, looking at Sam with concern. Minjoon started pulling things out in the kitchen, asking Sam what he wanted to eat.
Sam watched with concern as MinJoon prepared to mix honey and flour in bowl, and there was a carton of eggs and a bag of chocolate chips set out as well. Fortunately In the end MinJoon ended up ordering them pizza, because he obviously couldn’t cook.
