"You don't know that." I set the table.

I won't let her ruin my sudden good mood.

"What would happen if you told her the truth?"

"Can you not!" I whirl on her.

"You cheated on her! You're a cheater, do you think she would take you back if she knew that!?" Aphrodite shouted.

Mackenzie's eyes got big.

"Shut up! It was a mistake."

"Yeah what about the several times after, were those a mistake too?"

"We weren't together then."

"Was it a mistake, are all of them a mistake? Answer me!"

"I don't know!"

"Oh I see, you don't know. What a lovely excuse. I don't know. Well, you know what I don't know if I can continue to keep my mouth shut. I don't know if Skylar will find out the truth, and I don't know why I waste my time with you."

"What is your deal!? I told you that it didn't mean anything, I told you not to get attached!"

"You are a selfish asshole. You always have been, I see some things never change. You can't have it all Darleen."

"I don't want it all, I just want her." A sob breaks free from my throat.

"She doesn't want you, and she never will."

"Yes she does, you don't know that."

"Even if she does, which I highly doubt, you still lied to her. You are still keeping something from her that she deserves to know. You can't expect her not to find out sooner or later, secrets always come out eventually."

"No, she won't."

"She doesn't love you!"

"And I don't love you!"

We are both puffing our chest but when I said that last line I saw her deflate. Pain flashed across her face and I felt sick to my stomach.

"Fine, I got the message loud and clear. Unlike you, I know how to move on. We are done, have a happy life with your fantasies Darleen." she spat then she turned and stormed out.

"Fine!" I called after her.

I heard the front door slam close.

I sighed.

"Um... I know it's not my place to say anything, but you should listen to her. Skylar doesn't love you. She never did. It was always Jade and it always will be."

"You don't know that." I turn away from her.

Mackenzie placed a hand on my shoulder and I felt my eyes water.

"I'll help you clean up, but first I think I was promised breakfast." She said to lighten the mood.

I forced a smile and nodded leading her to the table.

"I won't tell Skylar about your secret."

"Thank you," I say to her.

"But you should tell her, it's better to find out from you than anyone else. If you really love her like you say, you should tell her."

"I can't. Every time I try... it was a mistake... a stupid mistake."

She sighed and ate in silence.

After we ate she helped me clean up the giant mess we made. I was mostly in a sour mood after that. Aphrodite ruined everything.

"Thanks, Mackenzie, I'm sorry you had to see that earlier," I said as we walked towards my car.

We had finished cleaning and changed. It was time for my lunch date with Skylar.

"It's whatever. Drama happens. Besides I had a lot of fun yesterday, the most fun I've had in a while. Maybe we can hang out more. You know you can like text me whenever; just because I'm Jade's cousin doesn't mean I'm off-limits or something. You're pretty cool when you aren't humping me in your sleep."

"Ohh, god. Nooo, you had to bring it up." I covered my face.

She giggled.

"I'll never let you live that down." She got into the car.

"God, I'm so embarrassed."

With that, she turned the radio on and we drove to her house.

"You and Aphrodite going to be okay?" she asked as I pulled into her driveway.

"Yeah, probably, she always forgets about it the next day. I'm sure once she's done being dramatic she'll be back to her usual self."

"I hope so. You guys were fun to hang with."

"You to Kenzie, can I call you Kenzie?"

"Sure. Everyone else does." She shrugs.

"Cool, I guess I'll text you later then. Keep you posted."

"Cool, good luck with your lunch date, but don't get your hopes up." She got out of the car.

"Gee thanks." I roll my eyes.

She giggles and runs into her house. I smile after her. She's okay, we definitely need to hang out more. I like being around her.

I back out of the driveway and into the one across the street. Then I get out of my car and knock on the door.

The door swings open and Oli eyes me.

"Hey, um is Skylar here?" I asked.

"Aren't you two broken up?" she crossed her arms.

"We are," I confirm.

"Emm, Then why are you here?"

"Well, I am hoping to change that fact."

"Impossible. Skylar is hopeless for Jade. Completely hopeless. You know she goes on morning runs just to get Jade flowers every morning. She spends all her allowance on Jade, she's even thinking about getting a job so she can have more money to take Jade on dates. She was going on and on about it last night. I had to tell her to shut up because I was trying to sleep. She and Jade talk all freaking night, it is so annoying. I mean props to you for trying but it's impossible." She leaned against the doorway.

I frowned at her.

"I thought you liked me." I point out.

"Meh, you are alright, but my sister wants what she wants. I go where my sister goes. Plus Jade bribed me to never let you in the house ever again. Free ice cream for life, whenever I want. So unless you have a better offer..." she eyed me.

I sighed.

"I got 20 bucks?"

"No way I know you're rich, how much is my sister's love worth here?"

"Oli!" I hear Skylar shout from upstairs.

"Oops got to go." She shut the door in my face.

I glance around before knocking again. This time when the door swings open it's Skylar looking all disheveled as she had just chased her sister around. She was still catching her breath as she pushed her hair behind her ears. As adorable as ever, I can't help but smile.

"Sorry about her, she's just a pest!" Skylar called behind her.

"You're a loser!" Oli called back.

"Shut it gremlin!"

"Troll!"

"Brat! Anyways! Ready to go?" she walks outside and slams the door before her sister can make a comeback.

I giggle.

"We have to hurry before our window closes." She pushed me to my car.

"I'm guessing Jade doesn't know about this?"

"No way! She'd kill me. She's getting her nails done with Cassidy, she could be back any second. I told her I was going out for lunch and she said she would try to be back before I do, so hurry!"

"Risking your life for me? I feel honored." I unlock the car and the doors rise up.

"Make no mistake I will tell her where I am, but not before we can talk." She quickly gets in the car.

"Unless I kidnap you." I flirt.

"You better not, you beast." She eyed me.

"I make no such promises." I turn the car on.

"The only reason why I don't want Jade with me is that I know she won't let me or you get out what we really need to say. Don't get the wrongs idea."

"And what idea would that be?" I pull out of her driveway.

"That I still like you like that, because I don't."

"Maybe you'll change your mind." I drive.

"What have I done?" She sighed and shook her head.

I giggled and together we headed for our lunch date.
