Clementine chucks a pillow at Dani who continues to stand in her doorway.

They're left alone in the house.

Because once a month maria and david go and have a night to themselves.

Not that its any secret why they go at night and they're gone until 10 or 11 am.

"I don't have to get out you dumb omega! I've lived here since I was born! You've only been here for 21 days!" Dani throws the pillow back at her,"How about you get out of my house!"

"Well if your mom and dad decide to keep me I'll be your sister! What will you do then you stupid fucking pup!" Clementine spits.

"That's where you're wrong!" Dani yells back,"They'll never keep you! Why would they! You're such an actual bitch and you don't even act like you wanna be here! So why would they wanna keep a disobedient 17 year old omega who doesn't care about anyone but herself!" Dani yells and throws the shirt that she threw at him back.

That makes clementine shut up and stare at him.

"You're so fucked up too! You can't even act like an omega should! You shouldn't fight back and you shouldn't be so much of a bitch all the time!" Dani spits.

Shit he's hitting her hard.

"And its your fault my parents won't pay attention to me anymore! Because you're a stupid orphan they think you deserve a pity party!" He kicks her dresser next to the door.

And that does it.

He's telling the truth and for the first time in weeks it all smacks her in the face at once.

She swallows hard and looks away from the little shit that's still throwing insults at her.

Tears prick her eyes and she looks down at the bed hiding them.

"So if you have any idea why they would keep you! Go ahead and tell me!" Dani yells at last.

Clementine gives a wet laugh and smiles sarcastically,"They wouldn't so why are you still trying to explain it..."

Dani opens his mouth then closes it looking like a fish.

She wipes at her eyes and grabs the shirts she was folding and starts it up again.

Dani sighs and he takes in an audible breath,"Clementine..."

She doesn't even feel like putting up her act right now.

He just pretty much slapped her with the truth and it stings.

"Yeah?"

He shuffles from the little bit of his feet she can see,"I... I'm sorry..."

She looks at him.

He grimaces at the floor,"I just... I really love my mom and dad... And I'm so used to being a single child..." Dani pats his head against the frame of the door,"I'm jealous... They'll keep you..."

Clementine shakes her head,"No... They probably won't..."

Dani scrunches his eyebrows,"Why?"

"Because of all the things you said... I'll probably mess up one day and they'll surely dump me..."

"You... I mean yeah I'm not fond of you but you couldn't possibly be that bad..." He mutters.

Clementine shakes her head again,"Do you wanna know how many families I've lived with in the last 14 years?"

"I... How many?" Dani asks with a questioning face,"Didn't you say at least 100 some?"

Clementine gives a small smirk and nods,"I've had 145 families take me in... Half of them were... Weren't what a family should be and the other half just... Didn't want me..."

She finishes her shirt and stands going to the dresser and opens the drawer.

Dani stares at her standing only 2 feet from her now.

"This house..." She closes the drawer,"Is my 146 home..."

"But... You said that most of them only kept you for only a few days to a week..." He looks confused.

"Yeah... And all the rest of that time I was in the care building..." Clementine mutters and stares at her hands.

There are scars across them from all the times the warden had hit her hands with a belt.

That shit hurt.

Dani sees what shes staring at and he glances away,"Was it bad there?"

"... Yeah... Its horrible actually because all the kids there are usually worse than me..." She mutters.

Dani swallows hard and stands straight,"Hey um... You wanna go watch a movie or something?"

Thank god he's quit talking about it.

"Yeah... Lets do that..."

Clementine slouches on the couch lazily and huffs,"That movie was lame..."

Dani snorts,"Yeah you're right..."

She flicks through the channels looking for a different movie.

Dani's phone dings and he reaches into his back pocket and pulls it out.

He clicks a few things on his phone then his brows furrow in confusion.

He grumbles and texts back at lightning speed.

He stares at his phone glaring.

His phone dings again and he types another reply.

This time it dings immediately and he bares his teeth and snarls.

"That's so fucking-" he chucks his phone at the other end of the couch.

He pulls his knees to his chest and shoves his face into them growling.

Clementine raises a brow.

His growling slowly deteriorates into a hurt whine.

That's when she panics internally.

Yeah she doesn't usually act like an omega should.

But when she knows someone is hurting or angry or violent.

She knows how to act like an omega immediately.

"Hey..." But she can keep her cool,"What's up?" She clicks the tv off.

"My best friend is an asshole that's it..." Dani mutters in a pissed tone.

"Can I ask just exactly why you think your friend is an asshole?" Clementine tosses the remote on the coffee table.

Dani squeezes his shirt,"There was this omega I liked and she just went and asked him out..."

Dani looks at her in a weird way,"Why would I tell you..."

"Cause..." Clementine tilts her head with a cocky smile,"If what you say is true, and your parents keep me, that means we'll be bro and sis and we have to trust each other some way huh?"

Dani huffs a laugh and shakes his head,"Ok-" he turns his body,"Whatever..."

"So... His name?" Clementine cocks a brow at him.

"His name is Lance..." Dani mutters.

"Annnd is he cute?" She grins.

"Yes very..." Dani snorts and shakes his head looking at the tv instead of her,"He has a cute smile too..."

"Hmhm... What's he smell like?" Clementine leans on her elbows.

"He..." Dani puckers his lips in thought.

Just like his dad.

Yeah yeah.

Shes been paying attention to how this family acts.

"He smells like fresh rain..." He smiles,"In the spring..."

"Ohh... Sounds nice..." Clementine smirks at him slyly.

Dani stares at her.

"You... Should show people this side of yourself more often..." He mutters fiddling with his sock.

Clementine thinks for a moment then cocks her head at him,"Oh yeah?"

"Yeah..." Dani sits up straight,"I like your real personality better than the fake one you put up..."

Wow.

This kid is clueless.

Guess he doesn't realize that if she'd let her guard down right now this conversation would probably be like a little girls sleepover.

"Listen kid don't believe every thing you see..." Clementine stands and goes towards the kitchen,"Whens mom and dad supposed to be back..."

"I dunno- wait... You just called my parents mom and dad..." Dani mutters and gawks at her.

Oh.

Oh shit.

"Um..." She stands there feeling kinda dumb,"Yeah I guess I did..."

Dani snorts,"Oh well... If what I'm saying is true... And my parents are gonna keep you... You've gotta call them mom and dad eventually right?"

Clementine thinks on that.

Yeah if this family keeps her she would definitely take the last name Bender.

And she would definitely call Dani her little brother.

And she.

She would totally call David and Maria her parents.

Mom and dad.

Mother and father.

She likes that.

She likes it a lot.

And if everything goes ok this time.

She'll be able to do that.
