‘How hard is it to sleep?’ Nora’s head is full of these thoughts. She can’t sleep, not after what happened, away from her parents, her people. Everytime she would close her eyes, pictures of her friend Zac would come to her mind, the Hindra people, and her mother’s look.
“Shut up”, a girl scolded her as she let out a scream.
Nora kept quiet in the dark, waiting for the morning to come and see the only person she trusts.
“Wake up! No time for sleep! Breakfast and at 9:00 sharp out in the arena!”, a loud voice pierced her ears.
All girls stood up, obeying the command given. Fast, she wore her uniform, a shirt tying with a rope and pants up to the ankles. On breakfast she was looking around, but Valerie was nowhere. Quickly they moved out to the training grounds.
Nora was shivering, not sure how to react in all this. There was a man, buffy standing in the middle, making a speech of how important it is to be called a Guardian, to protect the people acting like the hand of Eden.
Then the guy went through the rules that if were to be broken, the according punishment would take place.
Rules:
1. Obey the Lord and the Masters
2. Never doubt the decision of the Lord
3. A Guardian doesn’t have earthly desires
4. A Guardian can’t create or have any family ties
5. A Guardian should not put his emotions on any task given
6. Never question the orders given
7. You may never leave the Legion
And with that information given, the new kids started training in the arena. They were given spears and swords out of heavy wood to build some muscle in them.
There were classes about the history of the realms in the Tirrenia Galaxy, the Gods and how Guardians came to be.
“When Eden created this world, it was a paradise. But, he needed someone to protect the people in it from the darkness. He created the Guardians, a Legion to protect the Galaxy and keep the promise that they will keep this place a paradise”.
Nora scoffed, as she knew this seemed a lie. ‘No paradise here’.
The classes continued by learning magic, and this was something she excelled at, more than the physical stuff.
The days were passing, but Nora was facing problems. She was bullied, called weakling, and mistreated as she wasn’t as fast as the others.
As she was walking, all bruised and limping, two kids started coming her way. “How did you make it to the Legion, you wimp!”. Nora tried to ignore them, but that wasn’t easy. They wanted a fight.
A kid grabs her tail and pulls her to him. He grabs her neck and punches her to the ground. Her body pops and becomes a cloud, and a laugh was heard from the back.
It was Nora, created an illusion of herself. “You little shit!” the older kid growled and attacked her. She was on the ground, and he would punch her non stop.
A blade comes flying and lands on the kid’s shirt, pinning him down. Valerie jumps down from a building.
“Bullying an unarmed and hurt kid? Wow, some Guardians you are gonna become” she says with intimidation.
She calls back her sword and the kid stands up. “Who do you think you are? You are my age!” he shouts. He then grabs a knife he had and charges on her.
With a swift move, she dodges and kicks him on the ground, having her hands behind her back and eyes closed. “Did you say something?”.
The boy cried like a puppy and grabbed his friend and flew out of sight.
“Valerie, thank you, you were amazing!”, Nora said while being in pain.
“Even beaten up, you are still happy”, she says and give her her hand to help her up. The girls start walking down the path back to the sleeping dorms.
“You know, the illusion trick was amazing. No many people can do such stuff” she gives her a compliment.
“You saw?! But, teacher Magdu says I won’t make it and that I’m weak”.
“Teacher Magdu is a lousy old man that isn’t smart either. Forget about him”, she answers and grabs her chin.
“I’ll train you! From now on, I will make you the most amazing Guardian!” and with that statement, the girls started their journey.
