After dinner, he goes back to his writing spot. The sun has already set, but there’s a string of lanterns lighting up the area. One of the lounge chairs is occupied by none other than Dewi. Great, just Blake’s luck.
When he notices Blake, his eyes light up in a way that breaks Blake’s heart for some reason. “Fancy meeting you here.”
“Well, it’s a nice place to write and I wanted to work on my story a bit more tonight.”
“Then don’t let lil’ old me distract you…” That’s when Blake notices the suitcase in the shadow of Dewi’s chair. He tries to not pry, but it keeps bugging him.
“Why isn’t that in your cabin?”
“Oh, well…” Dewi looks down at his hands that he’s started nervously stroking. “Kate kicked me out of our suite. I’m pretty sure it was her way of breaking up with me…” Nope. No way. Blake is not letting him sleep out here.
He walks over to the fidgeting boy and pulls him up. “Come on, you can stay with us.”
“Your boyfriend won’t mind?”
“My boyfrie-? Oh, no, he’s not my boyfriend… We’re brothers. Just two brothers taking a vacation together… Not that there’s anything wrong with having a boyfriend. My brother has one. I… I just haven’t found the right person yet.”
“Oh. Well, I guess I’m single too now.”
Blake leads him to his and Luce's cabin. His brother is just coming out of their bathroom when they get there. "Welcome back, Blake. I was starting to think you finally succumbed to the siren's song and jumped into the ocean. You know the salt water isn't good for-" He cuts off when he notices their guest.
"Hey, Lu… um, Dew's going to be staying with us. That's okay, right?"
"Oh, uh, yeah…” Luce looks Dewi over, seemingly trying to ascertain the situation that led to Blake bringing him to their room. Did his brother bring him here in hopes of...? No, not that. It'd be too out of character for him. “I don't really have any problem with that. Just, um, one question. How are we handling the sleeping situation? ‘Cause you forget we only have two beds..."
Dewi is trying to take up as little room as possible as he speaks up. “I can just sleep on the floor…”
“Nonsense, Luce and I can just share a bed. It’s not like we didn’t used to when we were younger." With that seemingly settled, Blake goes to take a shower.
