In the morning, Blake realizes he passed out in his dirty clothes. He decides to just take a morning shower to make up for it… After all, he'd probably be spending all of today with Dewi as well. Don't want to stink too much…
Out of habit, Blake reveals his soul mark during his shower. It's not like there's going to be any kind of chan- That's when he notices. The blood red rose blooming on his side from one of the vines. 'I thought I saw blood…' Dewi saw it last night… Why did it have to start changing after all this time? Just when Blake has started to accept that he might not have a soulmate… When he has started getting close to Dewi. Hanging out with him felt like cheating on his soulmate for some reason, which was fine when there was a chance where said soulmate didn't exist, but there's the proof right on his side…
Why now though? Had they just been born or something? Blake didn't know how he felt having a soulmate around 20 years younger… That could get pretty weird considering it was generally common for soulmates to get married even if they weren't romantically involved.
The lucky ones were those who loved their soulmate, like Luce and his boyfriend. Most other cases would make arrangements in their relationship to allow for… sanctioned indiscretions. It's not like he couldn't have a relationship with Dewi, but he didn't want Dew to be just a side relationship.
Blake shakes his head. Dewi wouldn't want a relationship with him either way, so what's he worrying about? It's not like he has to choose between his soulmate and Dewi. Neither is going to want him anyways…
At some point he had curled up on himself. Yeah, real attractive…. Crying in the shower is sure to get everyone throwing themselves at him…..
He's so caught up in his thoughts he doesn't even hear the knocking on the door. Not getting any response, Dewi sleepily walks in to use the restroom. He is practically on autopilot and doesn't seem to notice at first that the shower is running… Even when he does, it still takes his brain a bit to realize what that probably means. "H-hello?" When the only response is a whimpering sound, Dewi becomes worried. "Hey, are you okay in there?" He pulls back the shower curtain to find Blake hunched over under the cascade of water, shaking slightly. The black vines across his body are on full display but Dewi is more concerned with his position…
Oh, hell, is he having a panic attack? Luce seems to have already left earlier and Dewi has no way of knowing what the best thing to do for Blake is. Something that helps for one person may make it worse for someone else. What if he messes up?
Dewi takes a deep breath. Maybe he can figure out what calms Blake from what little he knows about him… Writing? But that doesn’t do them much good at the moment… Blake’s plushie, Stormcloud? He does seem comforted by holding it, but he’s sure to be upset at it getting soaked by bringing it into the shower… What else? He racks his brain, trying to remember any detail that might help… He had been using Blake’s bed, which had an extra blanket that wasn’t standard of the cruise. It's probably something they brought from home and… it wasn’t really much, but he’d noticed a slight weight to it… Was it weighted? Had he… had he been unknowingly been using Blake’s weighted blanket these last two nights?
Well, he didn’t really want to get it wet without Blake’s permission, but maybe… Dewi grabs some of the large towels the ship provided and turns off the shower before draping them over Blake. It’s no weighted blanket, though having multiple towels might be similar enough in weight to work, right?
After a moment, Blake’s breathing seems to relax a bit. “...Blake? Is there anything I can do for you?” Dewi keeps his voice soft and as calming as he can. “Is physical contact okay or is there some music that helps?”
Blake looks up with tears in his eyes but doesn’t seem to see Dewi. His expression causes Dewi to start reaching out to him without thinking before he stops himself. “D-don’t le-leave m-me… Please.”
Dewi brushes away a tear before carefully pulling Blake into a hug, ready to pull away at the slightest sign the contact is making it worse. “I won’t, promise.”
They stay like this for a while until Blake seems to become aware of his surroundings again. “D-Dewi?” His voice is barely a whisper, quiet and almost fearful. “What are you doing here?”
“You were having a panic attack… I couldn’t leave you alone in that state. So… sorry, I didn’t know what to do. I tried to help you, but you were unresponsive so you weren’t answering how I could and I didn’t want to make anything worse by pushing you with questions…”
“Then, how…?”
Dewi looks guilty. “You… you let me use your weighted blanket, didn’t you…? I didn’t realize before, but you should have told me… I figured you probably didn’t want to use it in the shower but hoped this would be a good substitute.”
"Thanks… this probably ruined your image of me…"
“No, why would it?”
“You caught me crying in the shower. And it was over something stupid… I… I think my soulmate might be a little kid… There’s never been any changes on my soulmark until recently. Th-that means they’re probably super younger than me, right?”
Dewi appears… hesitant? “Not always… No one’s really sure how the soulmark thing works entirely…” Dewi is staring. Blake probably doesn’t even realize that his marks are on display. “Is… is the age of your soulmate really a big worry for you? Even if they’re a little kid, nothing says you have to have any kind of relationship with your soulmate… They’re supposed to be your other half, but if it makes you uncomfortable, I’m sure they’ll understand you not wanting anything… concrete.”
“You… You really think so?”
“Of course. They’re supposed to be the person that understands you best in the world…” Dewi slowly gets up. “How are you feeling now?”
“...Okay…” He tries to tell if Blake is just pretending to be doing better.
“Well… I was thinking…" Dewi seemed like he wasn't sure about taking charge. "I mean… it's been an eventful few days… maybe we could just relax in the cabin today? I brought my tablet which has a boatload of movies on it. So, I was thinking… grab some food to munch on throughout the day, then movie marathon in our PJs…” Blake agrees and Dewi goes out to buy them snacks while Blake finishes his shower and gets dressed in his fluffy kitty pajamas.
By the time Dewi gets back with enough snacks for a frat party, Blake has the one bed set up with all the pillows and blankets arranged in a nest-like structure perfect for watching movies. He’s sitting in the middle with a shy smile. “I hope you don’t mind… Luce and I would always watch movies like this at home.”
“It’s perfect…” Dewi sets down the snacks near the bed and grabs his tablet out of his bag before crawling up next to Blake. “So, what do we want to start with?” And like that, they spend the majority of the day watching movies.
Hours later, Luce comes in to find the two of them passed out leaning against each other. Dewi winches slightly in his sleep as Blake shifts, but other than that, they seem to be at peace. Luce takes a picture of the scene before quietly leaving again with a smile as to not disturb them.
