Slowly it was like my life came flooding back into me. The pain was what I was picking up on the most but that was no shock, I had been shot. Opening my eyes they felt heavy, A soft breath on my forearm made me look over. Aubree, the sweet little nurse, He has tucked under my blankets his body curled around my good side, it was clear he started much farther over on the bed by the location of his pillow.

He started to wake up and for some reason, I held completely still as if not to accidentally wake him any further. His eyes opened and he looked into my eyes for a good minute before he fully woke up.

"You're finally awake, how do you feel? Any pain? Discomfort? burning? Itch-----"

I placed my good hand over his mouth. He was talking way too much.

"Shush."

I had a slight headache, but it was the shoulder that was causing the greatest pain. Darius had clearly listened when I asked for Aubree, surely he had offered money for his services. Without so much as another word Aubree got up and I couldn't help but smirk at his clothing or rather my clothing. He looked really good, he had this glow about him that made me look at him longer.

"I'll get you something for the pain you're no doubt in,"

"Thank you."

"Its no problem."

"I'll give you twice as much as Darius offered you,"

"That's sweet but, he didn't offer anything. I'm doing this because I want to,"

"I can't let you----"

"Romeo relax we can talk about this later when you won't set the heart monitor off."

I hadn't even noticed the monitor or the IV line that I had in my arm. Aubree slapped my hand when I went to pull it out. He sharply told me to leave it alone because I needed it, But after my bitching, he let me up. He removed everything that I didn't need now that I was awake again, Aubree informed me I was out for two days. Standing up was an act that made me curse when I almost fell over and Aubree tried to make me get back in the bed. After bumping head for a few more minutes I was finally up and walking, however, Aubree was watching me like a hawk watches its prey.

My men were happy to see me, they all took turns giving me loose hugs, Aubree was over speaking with Darius, Calling him away from the conversation I spoke lowly.

"Give him a check and take him home, he surely wants to go home, I'm fine now."

"Sir, Aubree has refused to go home and he refused your money, but I will try again."

Aubree glanced over and his look told me all, Darius made his way over and as he leaned down he was holding back chuckles,

"Sir, Aubree says as your healthcare provider he is the one who will make the judgement when you are fine and he has more than enough of your hoe dollars, He said he bought a house with them."

"My hoe dollars?"

"yes, Hoe dollars."

Quietly I thought about that, Surely he didn't think I used this money to buy whores or such, I was never interested in even making money off that kind of shit. Aubree smiled at me and it seemed to make everything else around me meaningless. Love was not something that I could even think about in this line of work, I needed to get rid of this feeling ASAP.
