I starred at Devin for the longest time.

"Anna?"

I refocused on him, "Yeah?"

"Are you okay?"

"I'm just shocked that you want to get married."

He came closer to me, "We've been dating for 3 years now. Is it not a goo time to ask for your hand?"

"Well, besides the fact my family member is dying, kind of."

He walked towards the door. "I know, but you insisted on knowing."

"I'm sorry, Devin. After I visit my family, we can talk more about it."

He turn towards me, "You're going back alone to Kansas?"

"Yes." He waled towards me really quick. 

"Anna, I would prefer if you allowed me to accompany you on this journey to your home." 

I took a deep breath in, "Devin, my family is very particular about visitors. Plus, the family member that is sick is the only one I care about. I really think you should just stay here."

"Anna, please."

"Devin, I can't take you with me."

He stormed out and never talked to me before I left for the Hotel. 

-3 days into the trip-

I made it to the hotel. As I walked up to the entrance door, Master Edwin walks out to greet me.

As he walks towards me, I look at him in disbelief, "Master, I thought you were injured."

"Whoever told you that?"

"Henry, that is why I am back." 

He looked towards Henry, who was hiding behind the entrance door.

"Well, now that you are back, you can help with the Nightworth's dinner. They will be awaking at dusk."

"Edwin," I said, making him stop in his track. "I have to go back to Cal..."

"Anna," I quickly turned around to find Devin.

"No, no, no, why did you follow me?"

"I was worried," he said walking towards me. 

"Here is the first meal for the Nightworth!" Edwin said, but I stepped in front of Devin.

"No. This is my fiance, Devin." Devin's eyes sparkled with happiness.

"You're engaged?!" Henry and Edwin question.

"Yes, which is why I'm leaving for California."

"Edwin, Henry, Anna, where is my meal?" 

My life flashed before my eyes. The Nightworth awoke.
