--this is gonna be long and TMI-- Hello! Long time, no see.
After I was done with school (those of you who don't know me, hi, I'm Fokshee, I was studying the Arts while working on this project), I tried my luck and attended some local comic cons, curious to see how Unholy would do out there. The first volume did surprisingly well, I wish I could say the same about the second one though! This only brought discouragement upon my already low self-esteem, and I figured I don't wanna waste my project on a physical audience that's not open or ready for it.
It's been a year since I went on hiatus regarding this project, and carried on with doing my regular illustrations, attending comic cons and printing merch, among others. I let it marinade, let's say-- thinking about the characters, backstory, plot and everything was always on my mind of course, as well as how I would carry on with this. For a long time, I thought that going to a publisher would be the only way to do this, in hindsight I realized how I was looking at the entire comic industry through a peephole by doing this. A lot of factors played into this, but the most basic one is I'm concerned about how I will make a living. It still is a valid concern, but I'm viewing Tapas as a tool and an opportunity.
As Volume 2 has been completed since 2019, I will be uploading it bit by bit here. Some things are vastly outdated and the change from colored to B&W will be strange to some, but we can talk about that later.
I am NOT going to remake vol. 1 or 2 for the time being, simply for the fact that revisiting old material is a trap. Vol. 1 is more than 30 pages, and vol. 2 is close to it, so revisiting will only slow down the process of telling the entire story. In due time, I will definitely touch up on them.
Thanks for continuing! I really liked the story and beautiful artwork. Not that my opinion means much, but I think you did a great job and should be proud! It takes a lot of damn bravery to put your craft on display for the world to judge. You did fantastic
