Castaway Advice:
Bamboo is quite likely your best friend on a deserted island. Not only can you eat the shoots, (provided you prepare them carefully, as they contain a toxin that acts like cyanide. Eep!), but you also create traps and weapons with them, make certain types of construction from the branches and shoots, or create very strong bamboo silks for sewing and to help with binding. If you’re surrounded by bamboo let’s just say that your situation is not bad at all. You’ve got the “Swiss Army knife” of plants ready for your enjoyment. ♥
