Castaway Advice: We don’t advise skinny-dipping all the time, but sometimes you’ll want to, just to give your clothes a break. You doubtless did not wash up onto shore stark naked, and you might probably have a hard time making one pair of pants or shorts or bikini work during your duration. The temptation to protect them should be first on your mind. If you do swim in clothes, afterwards dry them in the sun to prevent chaffing and shrinking, and try not to move too much, except maybe to find shade or take a nap in your shelter. There are dangers in swimming naked in unknown waters, and urinary tract infection is a very common hardship.
