If you’ve read the “About” section, you’ll remember that I explicitly stated my tendency to draw satirically much of the time. Well, here is a fine example – the “Grown Adult Viewer”.
Somewhere between being a child and becoming an adult, we get dumber. Maybe we grow tired of having to think. Perhaps our brains reach a point at which intelligent absorption is at max capacity. I don’t know the reason, but the facts expose the truth. Why are the Kardashians famous? What great illumination do we glean from house wives that are billed as “real”, but behave and live in ways 98% of us have no way in which to relate?
Each year, I find less and less programming that warrants my attention. I become more cynical and apathetic to the cultural state of things. We don’t let our children soak up such nonsense (at least I hope that’s a true statement). With three kids of my own, I often watch along with them as movies like ‘Tinker Bell” play, shaking my head and thinking “Why do we expect higher standards from Disney than what we demand from NBC, etc”?
Examining the programming that receives top ratings should serve as a sad commentary on the state of human development. Mama June and Honey Boo Boo can’t thank us enough.
***** You'll notice a gap between #3 and #12 - this is because my mini Batman web comic 'The Real Killing Joke' ran from #4 to #11. That series can also be found here on Tapastic *****
