Today’s comic is a part of the game of webcomic tag ring-mastered by The Hat and Fat. Last week, the webcomic of Ed & Issac (Snapped Pen) tagged me by injecting some Batman brilliance into it’s latest comic. In turn, I have extended my hand and tagged the crazy, the witty and the clever Justin Voss of the ‘A Damaged Childhood’ webcomic. Justin takes the childhood stories, nursery rhymes and fairy tales we all grew up with, and “damages” them with a clever twist of perspective – which are all quite funny I might add.
This led me to look back and try to recall those tales that captured my attention as a child, and what I remembered more than anything were the strange yarns by The Brothers Grimm. Today’s comic – ‘Proper Tales Of Grimm’ – is both a nod to Justin’s fun twists, as well as a recognition that these tales and fables might very well be told differently today. So, TAAAAAAG Justin – you’re it!
I heartily encourage you to read the actual ‘Hansel and Gretel‘ by The Brothers Grimm – either for the first time or again. You’ll be surprised at how little you remember. You’ll also understand why Hansel was the only child that made it into my comic, as Gretel was never fattened up and therefore didn’t really serve the point here. I’ll be forgiven over time…
***** You'll notice a gap between #3 and #12 - this is because my mini Batman web comic 'The Real Killing Joke' ran from #4 to #11. That series can also be found here on Tapastic *****
