Darius POV
Waking up leaves me with a strange feeling in my gut, the house seems to quiet normally I would hear Camille doing something downstairs. She could still be asleep, but I find that unlikely since she’s normally up before me. Rushing down the stairs I saw that the bed was empty and didn’t even have any indent of her being there at all last night. Looking around the room to see how she might have escaped I saw that I stupidly left a window open. It was a smallish window she must have had I little trouble squishing though. Angry at myself I mentally punched myself in the face and heard my wolf laughing at me snapping at him I asked.
“What’s so funny, there’s no joke our mate has run off again and now we have to try and get her back”.
“She’s a hard one to keep and I want to know if you’re up for the chase” He smiled happily for the little game our mate has set up for us. I quickly left the house and drove of ready for the day to begin.
After minuets of driving aimlessly around town and having no clue where she might be, as well many pits stop to see if I can smell her sent but it mysteriously disappeared with her. Taking a quick stop at a toilet I changed out of my pyjamas into a black t-shirt and denim pants. Sitting back in my car I mind linked my best trackers and some of my hunting wolves to see if they can pick up her sent anywhere. Telling them to meet me here so I can give them more instructions and make sure they don’t muck about.
Once they finally arrived, I asked three to go back to my house to scout around the pack and in the forest but don’t go into other territories because I don’t want to deal with the mess, six of them to look around town for her and the last four to ask around if there are any fighting arenas and if they have seen anyone unusual and to ask where they may have gone. They headed off to do what I instructed and was left standing with Mike.
“What are you still standing here for, you better not disobey me otherwise there will be consequences” He submitted to me but still didn’t move.
“I know where she is, but you might not like it and what I have to say next” His voice held nervousness as he spoke unsure what will happen to him.
“Tell me”.
“I can’t specifically say but I can show you if you’re willing to stay in the background, so she doesn’t see or notice you” He stood up straight but kept his eyes on the ground.
“What are you going on about” This is frustrating.
“If she sees you, she will either be pissed and will run away to who knows where or shell confront you which is the worst possible option for you at the moment.” Well, that’s not confusing, is she wanted to try and harm me she wouldn’t be able to hurt me.
“Fine let’s go” I growl out and he quickly gets in the car.
He gave me directions to a shopping centre car park that I didn’t even know about and for good reason because it looks like no one has done maintenance here for years. This part of town looks like it’s the sleazy part because of how many drunks there are and all of the night clubs that litter the streets. Normally I would stay away from these places so why are we here, she better not be in one of the night clubs as a stripper because that would be the worst thing for her to do.
Getting out of the car I look around and notice a few posters on the walls, some were scratched or peeling off the dirt littered brick walls of the buildings. The poster showed two people on one side and only one on the other in the middle was an exaggerated VS. at the bottom it showed where the fight was being held.
Mike started walking I quickly catch up with an irritated growl. He took a step away from me and nervously playing with the fabric on his sleeves. Out of nowhere a huge crowed was crowded around a building that looked like it didn’t even have a roof, what is this place where Mike is taking me. Booths are placed at each entrance where people crowed and give their money away, two names glowed on a sign “Trickster” VS “Klipper”, this is a street fighting arena why in the hell are we here. Looking at Mike I toss him a questioning glance as he lets out a sigh and leads me through the entrance of the building.
“I bring you here because it’s probably the only place where she won’t know you’re here, its where she fights and makes easy money out of it” He was looking to the side of me not making eye contact, he looked like he wasn’t sure if it was a good idea to bring me here or not.
“The fight will begin momentarily please take your seats, stay seated until it’s over, any and all bets on the fighters should be finished, thank you for coming today” The voice came from around the area where speakers were for the commentators would talk.
Finding somewhere to sit I watched as Mike quickly walked away. As soon as the two fighters walked out the commentators started blabbering about them, I quickly recognised them easily as Kaly one of the best female pack worrier trainers and fighters that’s why I made her come here to fight. The other fighter I recognised as my mate from the small time that I got to see try running away and had the pleasure of being bitten by her. She was strong. This will be an interesting fight. Thy circled the arena watching each other and properly taunting.
It looked like Camilla could end it at any moment with her strength and skills, but she wanted to make it last as long as she wanted. She wanted the crowed to get riled up so she would get more money. In an instant the fights over and the crowed around me stands up and cheers for her as she walks away from Kaly I faintly hear her say “pick a fight you will actually be able to win.” How did she take Kaly down so fast and without making the crowed hate how short it was. If she can take down Kaly that easily how many of my other fighters will she be able to take down or even kill. The commentators said something about if she wins the next one, she will go to the big arena and fight in a death match. This is crazy how can she easily fight here and not care.
A screen raised up it showed how much money people bid on Camilla and Kaly, Camilla almost had one million while Kaly only had 10,000. Kaly’s name disappeared and was replaced with Griffen who had 50,000 while Camilla’s changed to one million. The screen slowly slid down while the commentators introduced the new fighter.
Camilla walked out but she seemed pissed off maybe because of who she’s fighting, or she knows I’m here, she keeps taking quick glances around the crowed. I’m not fully sure it could be that she doesn’t want to deal with another person doubting her ability which to be honest I did. The fight started similar to Kaly’s, but this time Camilla ran at Griffen and as he was about to munch her, she skidded to the ground and under him.
She turned back around to him and unsheathed two knifes from bandages wrapped around her wrists. I could tell instantly that she was holding back as she quietly flew across the ground towards him as he was distracted with doing something. She leapt into the air flicking the daggers at his shoulder. He has a god damn gun how is this even allowed she could be killed. Bang. She was shot in the stomach this can’t be good. Leaning forward on me seat I wanted to rip that guy apart for bringing a gun and shooting her. She somehow landed on her feet while her blades went where she wanted them too. The fight ended with Griffen having to be dragged out by a stretcher.
Everyone got up and cheered and started leaving, rushing past everyone I tried to get out as fast as possible, but it seemed challenging as the swarm of people moved slowly. I found Mike watching Camilla walk away I started to move towards her, but Mike stopped me.
“I will explain everything on the way” Mike started walking in a different direction and only explained why she was a street fighter.
We arrived at a small one-story house that looked like it had a never-ending amount of security cameras, walking up to the door Mike knocked softly and the door opened nearly instantly. A female poked her head out the door and instantly a smile formed on her face as she saw Mike. He asked her if he could go in and she opened the door for him but as I took a step forwards, she stopped me and spoke.
“Sorry not sorry you can’t come in” She smiled, and I let out a small huff looking at Mike.
“Sorry youll have to wait for me outside” He said while walking further into the house. I let out a small growl which earned a small giggle from the girl.
“You’re a grumpy wolf you should learn to smile more” She snickered and closed the door, walking back onto the path I looked around at all the houses they were more modern, and it seemed like you would have to have a good job to pay for one of the houses.
The wind picked up blowing different scents around and one smelled familiar, following the sent I wound up in front of a house that looked similar to all of the others around me, but it stood out of place for some unknown reason I wasn’t sure why though.
