Scarlett’s POV
Boredom has taken over the space as anything that I could have done to annoy or do is now mundane it use to be fun to rile up the boys but it’s just dull now. Also, the recreational building is now boring and the pool because there’s nothing fun to do in it and hardly anyone goes in it. I’ve stooped to a new level of being lazy, I have morphed into a couch potato.
Luckily, I will have something to entertain me, and that will be watching my targets struggle to life as I take it from them. all weapons are cleaned and sharpened, and my suite is clean with some weapons already attached to it ready and waiting for me to slip its protective leather skin on.
All I have to do is wait for Darius and Mike to finish getting their stuff ready. I was up before the sun getting everything ready for the long day ahead of me. I set up all the equipment for Mike to use while I leave to find them again and pounce at any opportunity, I get to take them on when there unaware.
Setting off into the streets I go back to the warehouse figuring that they would still be doing their business there due to the bug picking up some activity the other day. Which most likely meant they haven’t found the bug yet. There is a possibility that they could have set up a trap and used the bug against us but I’m not willing myself to think that will happen.
Busily people push past none noticing the slight shine of silver in the light that reflect off of my legs as I walk. My jacket not quite hiding the whole blade as it peeks out when I move. Striding faster wanting to move out from people’s line of sight. I quickly sidestep into a side street manoeuvring around all the small stands set up and some of the fallen merchandise. I reach a drainpipe scaling it up onto the roof to see the warehouse in front of me. I ready myself and take of into a sprint jumping off of the building and easily slipping into an open window. Scanning the room, I see that all of the human blood bags are gone as well as most of the machines packed up.
Growling out my frustration I jump down from the metal walkway landing softly onto the ground, it looks like they haven’t been here for awhile and the only thing I can pick up is a smell of magic that still lingers in the air. It smells dark and like something rotten meaning they have been using dark magic which is starting to mess with my sense of smell. It blocks out all other scents, quickly I walk into the conference room to find a small note on the table with my bug on it.
‘Looking for where we have gone, it took us long enough to find your little friend but after all it will take you much longer to find us.’
A single drop of blood has dried up on the paper, smelling it, I can tell it doesn’t belong to anyone of them. Bastards, thinking they can get away with all of this, there’s going to be hell to pay and I won’t stop until they are all dead. Brutally murdered.
From scouting them out I have a faint idea that they would still be in the area hiding and waiting for me not be able to track them down. I can’t wait to see how this hunt will go down.
I pick up Mike and Darius talking about the situation and telling me to think about this before acting, ignoring them I walk out the door and find a slither of their scent. Mike and Darius start arguing about something, but I turn off the earpiece and run after the trail. Tracking it down to an abandoned building, I step up to the edge and look down at my targets. Taking note that there are five instead of the original four, oh this will be great new to tell my boss.
None of them suspect that I’m about to pounce on my prey. Lowering myself on the ledge I keep enough cover with the shadows of other buildings and as night creeps over the sky. Watching carefully as they move around the small alley like sewer rats scurrying around looking for scraps. They gather around a small barrel that has a fire burning in it as the youngest witch casts a spell that causes the fire turn into an oily black flame. They stare mesmerised at it as they watch whatever it shows them, that I can’t see from this distance. Suddenly two small thumps sound next to me, looking behind me I see Mike and Darius standing with their hands-on knees looking puffed as they slowly regain their breath. When Mike looks up, I make hand signals and he instantly looks apologetic and quickly glances at Darius indicating it was his idea.
I sign more to him, showing my anger with this situation and he signs back that he tried to stop him from coming but couldn’t disobey his alpha. Stupid wolf hierarchies.
“If you two wouldn’t mind stopping this silent conversation and let me be apart of what’s being discussed,” Darius speaks his annoyance that he’s not a part of this.
“The big bad stupid alpha wolf can’t stay in one place while the rogue goes off to do her own business,” venom laces every word as they lash out of my mouth, causing his anger to go up.
“Blaming me that’s cheap,” he scoffs like he hasn’t ever done anything wrong in his life and he looks over at Mike for backup “I’m not the one going off about to kill four people because of a stupid job that doesn’t even provide protection, you can’t even see when a trap is right in front of your face,”
“One my job provides enough protection and pays good and second I knew exactly what I was walking into, and guess what I don’t care about your opinion and I’m still alive and here doing my job so stop worrying or complaining and shut up so I can do what I came here to do,”
“I won’t let you kill them, you don’t know if they have actually done anything wrong, so why do they deserve to die”.
“So, what you’re all self-righteous now after what killing thousands of innocents, you now have a heart to care who dies and who doesn’t,” I growl at him while stepping closer not showing any weakness, with only a couple of inches between us and a small blade in my left hand clenched hard where my knuckles are pure white, “I don’t care what you think about them but you’re not getting in my way tonight.”
He growls back and I can see Mike taking his eyes off of the targets and looks at us with wary eyes determining if he should intervene. Red slowly clouds my vision as Darius tries to use his alpha dominance over me, instantly Mike briskly walks closer. I quickly lash out and slice Darius’s arm as he reaches out to grab me. He stagers backwards with a look of hurt on his face, I take the opportunity to nock an arrow and aim shooting one of the witches, killing them instantly as it lands it’s mark in their head.
Dropping my bow and arrows I plummet down landing in the middle of their circle. Watching as they all take a couple of steps back to prepare themselves to attack.
“I would say sorry, but I really don’t care and to be truthful they deserved it and so do all of you”.
“How dare you kill our guardian Selena you will pay for this.” A male witch yells at me as he pelts a ball of raging magic at me. It shatters behind me as I doge it as it sounds like a small explosion as it left a burnt mark on the ground, I figure that he wields lightning.
the witches fall back as they rely on their long-distance magic to defend them, easily dodging all their attacks. The vampires use their speed and strength as they run at me, but it just looks like a normal run if that. I use claws and fangs to attack as well as the dagger that’s still stained with Darius’s blood. With a small flick its thrusted at the first vampire lodging itself in its eye socket, it yells out in pain and another one calls out their name Kies.
With another small flick a blade flies through the air getting stuck in the male’s kneecap, he falls to the ground and pulls out the blade. As he uses his magic to propel it into my shoulder, I fight off the vampire with one eye. Hissing I pull out my blade from my shoulder and use it to cut a harsh line across his chest.
“Mutt who hired you to kill us I demand to know” the second vampire says trying to compel me but soon realises it won’t work.
“Your undoing is by death only” I say hoping to piss her off and it works as I am able to get the one, I’m fighting to the ground she lunges for me gripping her hands around my neck while digging her claws in. moving to fast for her to comprehend what’s about to happen, I rip her hands from my neck and push her forward and trip her, so she’s pinned.
“Let me know what its like when someone rips out your throat” plunging my fangs into her neck and slowly ripping it out I eat a chunk of meat as blackish red blood spews out and she tries to stop the bleeding with her hands, but it slips past like sand. Blood drips down my chin and onto my clothes.
I look towards the witches and they look terrified and like they’ve been glues to the spot. The male sends another bolt at me with hits my other arm tearing through my suite and skin as it burns flesh, small plumes of smoke float up as it stops burning. Wincing at the damage I carefully inspect the damage and see that it shouldn’t take too long to heal with some medicine. Walking forwards I close in on the witches but get interrupted as pain erupts from my back and abdomen as the male vampire slowly looks up at me and loses strength as he lets go falling to the ground barely alive.
“That’s for killing Valery.” Gripping the steel beam rod tightly I slowly pull it out and use it to plunge it all the way through his chest and onto the ground going through his heart, making sure he is dead and can’t get back up.
Turning back to the witches I run at the male and plunge a rugged dagger through his thigh until a small tink is heard from the blade hitting the ground. He cries out in agony and begs for me to let him go saying that he’ll stop using dark magic and will work to be a better person. I don’t listen and focus on making him suffer.
Leaving my blade where it is, I push his chest down onto the ground, kneeling on his chest as I take one of his wrists and putting a blade through until its stuck in the ground, doing the same to his other wrist. Standing up I stalk towards the little girl.
“Run Josey, run!” I let her run about a meter ahead before I throw a blade into her ankle making her fall face first to the ground, I grab her by the collar of her shirt and drag her over to the male and make him watch as I slowly hold her arms behind her back with one hand and use the other to slowly drag the blade across her neck at first, I trace a small line. She whimpers and shakes as small droplets of blood form and roll down. Then in a second a stab the middle of her neck and tear it out in a crooked line. As she chokes on her own blood she says.
“I’m sorry Brice.” Her dark magic surges out one last time and it finds its mark with a steel blade in my chest with enough power to send me stumbling gasping for air. I pull out the blade and gasp as it stings. Waiting for the wound to heal a little before I couch and use my hand to cover that when I pull it back blood covers my hand. I smile menacingly at Brice as I crouch over him and slowly submerge the blade in his chest carving my way around his heart and pull it out.
I watch as his life drains away. Standing up I now notice all of the wounds I have and how much they hurt as the killing calm fades away with the adrenaline. Most are already starting to heal I pick up all my blades and take a moment to stop and look up to see that Mike and Darius stayed to watch. Darius looks sick to the stomach whereas Mike looks like he knew this was going to happen, he gives a small nod and I quickly take my leave.
Running back to the hotel I quickly grab everything of mine and leave before anyone notices, rushing back to my house I know they won’t bother me for a while. Mike wont and I think Darius needs some time until he can face me again. I can finally relax alone. Putting everything down I lock the door and head straight to the bathroom where I carefully peel away my suite and look over my wounds seeing most healed and one leaving a scar.
Once I’m cleaned, I change into something comfy to wear and snuggle into bed being comfortable enough to sleep and happy that I have the warmth of my own bed at last.
