Even to Nick, it sounded strange, the whole feeling he sometimes got that he could never explain even to himself. It was like he could hear his soulmate's voice in his head, and they talked about random things like the problems they were facing or the thoughts they were hiding from others.
She told him about her not being able to open up to anyone and share her feelings because she was afraid of getting hurt.
Nick told her about how fake and artificial everything in his life was and how there was no one he could talk to. They knew while they communicated in their heads that maybe they were meant to be together, but she wasn't ready.
She knew it wasn't fair, but she wasn't ready to accept that their connection was the truth. She preferred thinking about it as a figment of her imagination.
Even though she thought so, they still communicated more often in the last few years. She always tried not to talk about things that might identify them but about feelings and thoughts that she didn't have anyone to share with.
Sometimes while they were talking, Nick could swear he felt the heat of her hand in his, and he imagined holding on to her warmth.
It felt so real sometimes that he was sure the woman really existed, that they would meet one day, but he didn't want to rush her.
She felt safe thinking of him as her imaginary friend, and Nick didn't want to take that away from her. He wanted to wait for her to be ready.
However, it wasn't easy for him to wait because he often fell asleep feeling her gentle hand in his and wishing to feel her touch for real.
Even in his mind, it felt better than anything else he ever experienced, but he wanted more.
After meeting Mia, he started thinking that she might be the one he was connecting with, but there was no way for him to find out for sure.
So, instead of freaking Mia out, he decided to try to get some identifying information from his mystery soulmate. He thought if she was Mia, it would be easier to find her, and if not, he could give up on Mia.
There was only one thing he knew for sure, and that was that the girl he was connecting in his mind was The One. She challenged him and made him think about things from a different perspective, keeping him grounded.
Thus, Nick decided to stop stalking Mia on Facebook and initiate the connection with his other half. That way, he could try to subtly get some information from her.
Before doing anything, Nick had to remind himself to be careful since he knew how sensitive she was, especially about him knowing her identity.
They told each other things they never told anyone else, and he knew she would have been embarrassed if she suddenly met him in person.
Thus, he decided to be very careful, and even if she was The One to tread carefully so as not to scare her away.
An accidental meeting might be a lot more than then Mia and Nick bargained for. It's not what either one of them expected but only one of them is ready to accept the feelings that start developing. Will they be able to accept the fate and enjoy it?
For some reason, Nick keeps having vivid dreams that feel more like memories about a guy named Mark. Is there some connection between the dreams and the present? Why does he seem to have powerful feelings for both the man of his dream and the woman of is waking hour? What does it all mean for him?
