BERNARD'S POV:

My wounds got deeper every time i move. The pain is too much. The poison from the weapon that stabbed me was creeping fast inside my body. I felt my nerves tighten and the other side of my body weakened.

This is bad.

As I carried my wife and my son, I looked at my companions. Jerick and Hiraya were badly beaten. While others continued fighting to give us way.

The way to where more monster is.

The gate.

"Bernard!"

To my surprise, Jerick quickly ran to my side and then swung the sword he had taken at the goblin we had killed earlier. It hit the goblin who would have attacked me from my side, hiding in the dark. These goblins are no ordinary compared to others I met back then, they were more stronger.

Their skins can be compared to orcs!

"You okay ?!"

"Yes! I can still move don't worry."

Fortunately, this is not the race of goblins we have encountered when we were looking for a place to hide. If those goblins attacked us now, I know we wouldn't be able to leave that place. I just hope we wont encounter the goblin assassins.

They are pain in the ass.

To think that the goblins will beat us in this area is a joke on the outside in this gate. Especially if they don't know that the goblins here are high levels compared to others.

Heh.

This is a new discovery if we can still come out alive in this place. Those high ranking guilds will be in chaos.

"Ber....nard..."

A weak voice called my name. Her face became more pale and her eyes are slowly shutting down. My heart is in pain and nervous seeing her so weak in my arms.

"Shh...it's okay...we will make it...it's okay," I said and held her more tightly, carefully.

From a distance I could see the gate and the truck surrounded by monsters. I clenched my jaw and looked at Dante. Even we didn't exchange words, he immediately understood what i meant by just looking at him.

[AT THE MEETING BEFORE THE ATTACK STARTED]

"We'll take the truck while the others take the monsters attention. I will be the bait and then Elijah will support me from behind. While we were fighting I wanted you all to ride in the truck. Then who among you can drive the truck?"

"Me. I can drive the truck since my father bought a truck last year."

"Is everyone agree to let Herbert drive the truck?"

"Yes," Hiraya.

"I agree." Herbert.

"It should be fine, okay i agree." Giovanni.

"Okay, just don't let us die because you stepped the wrong break." Elijah.

"How about you old geezer" Dante scoffed and threw the stick he was holding at me.

"As long that he know how to start the engine, it's fine with me."

"Okay, As agreed, Herbert will drive the truck, Dante and Herbert will defend the back of the truck with the others as well as those who will be injured in the upcoming fight."

"What? You'll engaged yourself to the front line while taking care of your wife?" Jerick.

"We don't have any choice. Since we're already in this battle field, we must choose the most possible way to survive."

"Then, i will keep my eyes on them. Just don't die old man," Dante with his mocking smirk, brushing his white beard.

"Look whose talking here, you're probably older than me old geezer,"

[THE PRESENT]

Behind the tall trees, covering by the otherworldly grass we started to act and headed to our areas. I could feel their nervousness and determination. From their faces, I could read their one wish at this time. They are ready to fight and ready to gamble their lives and get out of this hellish place.

Giovanni stepped aside and sat next to me. He held out his arms, ready to take my wife and son from me.

"Take care of them,"

He nodded and lifted them up. "I will do my best,"

I caressed one last time their faces and kissed my wife's cheeks as well my son's.

"Can you still fight?" He asked as he look at my deep wound. The color of my skin darken and blood keeps flowing.

Even he gave me first aid, the blood lost cannot be stopped 'cause of my moves.

"Yes, I will ran to you as soon as i can feel that i'm about to die," I chuckled and then groan in pain.

He shook his head and pat my shoulders. "Don't die, comeback alive or your wife and son."

I stared at him. His face was serious and sincere in what he was saying. "I know. I won't."He nodded and keep his position.

There's about twenty goblins guarding the gate. And there's six of them guarding the Truck. Luckily, those six were just sitting on the side while busy with what they were eating and laughing devilishly.

"Urgkk!"

Vomit

Hiraya throws up when she sees what does goblins eating. She covered her mouth eyes widened and her body is trembling. Fear, anger and disgust were evident in her eyes. I didn't expect that i will saw them here. The people who was with us on the first day and only yesterday hanging from the tree and the others were also lifeless stabbed with a spear. Skinned, ripped and even chopped in pieces.

"Those bastards!" I heard Elijah say to the side and in his tone, I felt anger.

"Those motherfuckers! W-what are they eating..."

The emotion of his anger and the shock on his face were mixed and visible.This isn't the first time to me saw a monster eating humans because i work as a hunter before. But these people, this is their first time saw a monster eating our kind.

This is not good.

"Calm down. We need to follow our plan and ---Shit! Elijah!" I was surprised when he suddenly stood up and rushed running alone with anger in his face.

"This dumbass kid!" Dante whose hiding behind the tree, ready to engaged to fight.

We immediately moved and I quickly followed this boy. Dante, Jerick, Herbert, Hiraya and Giovanni with my wife and son headed straight to the truck while Dante blocking the strikes from the goblins. Jerick helped him fight, Hiraya and Giovanni quickly opened the trucks door behind and entered. Herbert who's in charged at the driver's seat and start the engine. And me, i chased Elijah and slaughtered the goblins who's in my way.

"Ahh! motherfuckers!" He amateurishly swung his swords to his opponent without even thinking.

Shit!

He's out of his mind.

The goblins were startled by the sudden attack. But eventually their laughter filled around the place. And then attacked Elijah and retaliated a couple of strikes on his back.

"Ackk!"

"Kid!"

This kid! His short temper will kill him!

I accelerated my pace and then quickly broke the arrow that flew in his direction. I also quickly swung my short sword and beheaded a goblin who was about to stab me in my back.

"I won't let you stab me again!" I said as i keep fighting.

When i reached him he was coughing up blood and can't stand properly. Even if I only saw the wounds for a moment, I can say that they are serious.

"Stay alive kid! Don't sleep!" I quickly said while fighting the goblins.

"Ahhh!" A loud shout from the truck's direction gained my attention, i saw that most of the goblins surrounded the truck and hardly see the others.

My eyes widened when I finally saw them somehow. Old Dante was covered in blood and had his left arm amputated as he continued to fight. Hiraya and Herbert also stood up blocking the monsters enter the truck despite to their injuries. I cannot find a way to go further near to them. And I noticed that every number of goblins i killed, their number keeps increasing!

Where the hell did they came from?!

While everyone fighting the goblins, Herbert who's in charged of the truck are having a difficult and hard time to start the engine.

Damn it!Damn it! Damn it!

My hands were sweating profusely and shaking as I repeatedly tried to operate the truck's engine.

Damn it! Please start! Please start!

"Herbert! Hurry up and start the Truck!" Hiraya shouted from the back and hearing her groaning in pain dealing the goblins.

"I know! I'm doing what i can---Ahhh!"

"Kekeke"

Fuck!

My heart almost blown up and my eyes almost popped up when there's a goblin from the another window looking at me, smiling from ear to ear.

My eyes narrowed then I raised my middle finger out of my nervousness then smiled devilishly.

"Fuck you bastard!"

The goblin's expression became darker and looks like he understood what I mean. Suddenly, he hit the window with his dull sword and cracked the glass.

Ack!

Shit! Did this monster know what i said?!

The window glass was on a verge of its final peak when blood splashed to the windows and a loud thud from outside gasp me up.

"Moron! What are you doing! Move your hand!" I startled when Hiraya showed up with blood all over her face and body. Her uniform are in mess and i can see in her eyes the threat.

"What?! Start the engine or you also want to die?!"

"I-I'M TRYING! I'M TRYING!"

Damn it! How did i end up in this fucking place? Damn it! Please work! I don't want to die in this place. So get started!

I closed my eyes tight praying to start the engine. My face lit up and I rested deeply when i finally heared the engine function.

"Get inside!" I shouted at them and started to operate the truck.
