"I don't know what's wrong with those beings. Why they want to torture themselves like that?" Her mind replayed the events of earlier.
What they said and did was a far cry from how she was when she was younger. She always respected authority, even when she disagreed with them. They were in her best interest. Adults are always right. Young beings lacked the experience and wisdom to mitigate mistakes.
She sighed. "I'll leave them be. This generation too hard of hearing." Tantie Mennin left on the light in her room as she looked at the night sky.
What foolishness.
She wondered if she should assist them out of pity. With their resources and numbers, it would make it somewhat easier for them. The determination, or from Tantie's interpretation, rudeness, was certainly fresh and didn't want to leave her. She could've felt the intensity, the emotion, slamming into all of her frame.
But reality came. The Defence Force marched into her logic centre and implanted themselves, assuring conquest. What was determination faded. Common sense set in. They had no chance. It would be illogical to waste anything on them. And if anything, this is a good lesson for them to gain. They failed to listen to her; her warnings cast aside for a measly starcraft. The Defence Force possessed military strength that eclipsed their own. And yet, they were still going. And yet, they would still fight. And yet...they had faith.
They are quite the anomalies; the outsiders. It was in the local culture here to never disregard those older and wiser. They showed how out of place they were - literally and figuratively with that outburst.
Whether they survived or not was insignificant to her now. She wished them all the best. That was all they were getting.
