Hello and welcome! I’m Menchikatsu and welcome to my third book here on Tapas. Following Kunoichi and My World and You I wanted to try my hand at something a bit grittier and fantasy. I’m not saying there will be sex, blood, and violence in every chapter, but I wanted to give everyone the head’s up that there will be quite a bit of all three and then some.
I’m usually not a big fan of writing things for shock value so I promise I will keep things in context of the story and whether or not it actually needs it and fits in the framework. That’s not to say there won’t be gratuitous bits, but I’ll try to have them make sense, at least! I’ll also provide warning for delicate or sensitive subjects.
While the majority of the book will be in first person perspective, I feel the story can’t be told as effectively by sticking with that perspective only so there will be interludes told from an omniscient viewpoint.
For those who haven’t read my books: Welcome and I thank you for taking the time out of your day to read my humble story! For those of you who may be joining me from either of my other two novels I thank you for once more taking a chance with me! I promise this one will be quite a departure and I hope you enjoy reading it a fraction as much as I enjoy writing it! Also rest assured the story is interconnected to the world I’m writing as a whole. Minji Song, the main character, was met originally in MWAY in Hiroshima where Emi helped her find her missing class if you’ll recall, and there are also links to Kunoichi as well.
Now, for those who read the bits I wrote and put into MWAY and Kunoichi, obviously there’s been a lot that’s changed. Ok…all of it changed. But I did warn you! My release schedule at this point is up in the air, I’ll have something more concrete as the initial chapter draws closer, but I anticipate a weekly update like My World and You. I want to be far enough ahead in the story that it won’t be a matter of writing as I go so, I expect to take a two-week hiatus at the end of My World and You to get more than the four chapters I’ve got written so far complete.
For some people fantasy stories have names that are difficult to pronounce in your head. Inevitably I’ll find at least one character where I have no idea how to pronounce their name. The main character’s name is Ashvallen pronounced like Ash-vaal-len. Carrisyn’s name is pronounced kera-sin. Zelaeryn is Ze-lair-in. Sascha’s name is pronounced Sah-sha and Alarice is pronounced Uh-lair-iss. Sayuri is pronounced Sai-yuri. Of course, you can pronounce them however you want!
You’ll hear from me from time to time, but I’ll try not to be too annoying! Likes and comments are always appreciated and welcome and, once again, thank you so very much for joining me!
