In a quite room, with disinfectant wafting all over the place, the person lying in one of the beds with IV drops injected into his wrist, was finally regaining his conciousness.
Red fluttered his eyes open, his blur vision gradually focusing. He looked around only to find White sleeping in a sitting position, his head resting on his arms as a pillow, on the right side of his bed.
Red couldn't control his mouth from curving into a smile.
He slowly lifted his hands and tried to pat White's head, ensuring that it was gentle as to not wake him up.
Just when he was about to retrieve his hand, he got caught by the other's own hand. White lifted his head and looked at Red who was obviously startled, his eyes wide.
White issued a smile, as if saying that it was alright.
Red calmed down seeing this. White sat up straight but was still not letting go of Red's hand, instead he kneaded it lightly with both his hands, reassuringly.
"Red, forgive me." White said in full sincerity, piously bowed and placed Red's hand on his forehead.
Red felt his heart melt at White's sudden softness but things needed to be cleared in order to move on, "Listen, I'm not mad at you nor I blame you. I just wanted to know why you did it."
Red knew that White isn't an unreasonable person.
White took a deep breathe and explained everything. Everything including the Star Alliance, their mission.
Red felt that it was straight up from a sci-fi novel. White then fished out his personal terminal, showing him the advance technology in the intergalactic civilization. So he could only believe.
White indeed held some blame of the deaths of other people, but it was not that heavy since, like people on Earth, there are soldiers who killed to protect. Just like what White did.
Red expressed this thought to White. Greatly lifting some heaviness in White's heart.
"Let's properly pay respect to them when all of this ends." Red said. The things that happened are all in the past, the dead cannot be brought back. Red may grieve for them for his whole time but shouldn't let it hold him back from achieving his love.
"mn." White hummed in response.
.
.
.
In the next day, Red's fever was already down, and he could finally walk around without getting dizzy.
"Red, I need to show you something." White suddenly opened up.
Red just nodded but his heart was accelerating.
The both of them walked slowly. Passing between rooms, and walk through aisles. Until they finally met their destination.
White pressed the door button. Then little by little, it revealed what's inside.
Red couldn't help but tear up at what he saw, he felt his knees buckle up. White went to his side and supported him, then he led Red inside.
Inside where like capsules, and inside were the bodies of his deceased friends.
He looked over at White with a confuse and inquiring look.
White, "I preserved and hid their bodies here in the lobby."
Red was speechless but still asked, "How about the others, they were rejected, right? How could you have possibly got them?"
White, "I have my ways."
The truth was, the crews that were ejected didn't die in the space nor they're left drifting in the galaxy.
As for how he did it, I'll leave it to your imagination.
Red went to them one by one. Everyone of them lying down on a transparent capsule like caskets, preserving them. And they look just like they're asleep.
.
.
.
The two of them chat for a bit when the whole Skeld shooked and issued an alarm.
The alarm means one thing, there's something wrong within the spaceship. However, White has already abstained himself from doing damages any further.
Red looked over at White, they nodded at each other, and without saying anything they stormed out from the lobby and towards the storage.
What their eyes met was two space pods that broke through the ejection chutes, with the walls of the Skeld in this condition the air inside was thinning out and it was really hard to breath for Red who was merely a human.
White saw that Red was nearly suffocating, so he immediately went to the nearby emergency kit and helped Red put on a space helmet that supplies oxygen.
Red took a deep breathe and calmed himself.
When all of this was said and done, the two imposters of the 1st fleet finally got out of the space pods and mockingly laughed at them.
"Yo! How have you been, Code 002. It looks like someone wasn't doing their mission." Code 057 said and eyed Red.
White immediately put on a protective stance and hid Red behind him. Code 057 and Code 015, he didn't know why they were in the Skeld but it was obvious that they're up to no good.
"What're you here for?" Code 002 asked, hostility evident in his eyes.
"We came here to check on you. You know, commander is really worried about you." Code 015 said with sarcasm.
White squinted his eyes at him.
"Now, now. Don't look at me like you'll kill me at any second. We're still in the same fleet after all." Code 015 said with an annoying smile, the type of smile that would provoke people's wrath.
"I'm asking once again. What are you here for?" White asked through his grit teeth. Because of his anger he unconciously grasped Red's hand tighter.
Red felt White's temper was on the verge of collapse so he also tightened his grasp onto White's hand. White felt this little action and look over Red, he immediately became clear-headed and rational.
The behavior of his bloodline was appearing, and he wanted to protect his territory from others, especially with his beloved person. His sixth sense was alarming him of the danger brought by these two people.
Code 015 who was watching this felt nausea so he couldn't help but comment, "Seriously? Why are you being so clingy and all with a human?"
Code 057 also added fuel, "Yeah, that's disgusting. And you're a shame to the empire! The mission is to exterminate the humans on the ship, why are you so attached to him? You should kill him."
Code 015, "That's right. As a trained soldier, you shouldn't be attached with the subjects of your mission, right?"
Code 015 examined White's face. It was just a matter of second but guilt passed through his eyes. This made Code 015 very excited, his heart was beating so fast.
Code 15 showed a sinister smile, "The empire won't let you go easy, Code 002. Either you kill that human right now, or we'll do the honors to complete your mission for you. Now! Choose!"
Code 015 really can't help it, his blood was boiling, his body was hot, his pulse was racing, his mind was hazy. He was like filled with ecstasy. He was laughing like a crazy maniac.
However, even though minutes have passed, White didn't made any movement. Realizing this Code 015 stopped and he looked at White with disappointment.
"You won't kill him?" Code 15 asked with an innocent voice, like what he was saying didn't have any malice.
White remained silent.
"Hmm. It's not that you can't but you won't, RIGHT?!" Code 015 said, his eyes looking at the two with a very wide opened eyes. He was looking completely like a psycho.
"Well. That's fine. If you don't want to kill him, then...DIE TOGETHER!" Code 015 said and pulled his Plasma guns with both hands, and rained bullets everywhere.
.
.
.
Luckily, White has a very fast reaction especially in this kind of situation. They both ran and hid themselves at the aisle leading to the Comms, and was able to barely escape death.
When the both them finally entered the Comms, White hurriedly locked the door, and opened the server to contact the Air Ship.
But like before, the signal was still interrupted by some device and he was unable to get through. Bad premonition rose in White's heart.
It seems like everything was planned right from the start.
He couldn't help but scold himself, he was inflicting Red to all of this. He was exposing Red to danger.
He looked at Red with a worried expression, but Red just went to him and hugged him.
"I don't know why they're suddenly attacking us but calm down and think carefully. I'm sure there's another way."
And like there was some kind of magic on his words. White was able to think.
"Another way. Another way." Red's words kept chanting inside his head.
.
.
.
Code 15 was constantly shooting everywhere, not even minding if his targets was still there or are did they dropped dead already.
He shot and shot until his plasma guns ran out of energy.
With smoke everywhere they obviously can't see anything. They couldn't move around. This bought time for White and Red to run to the shields and enter the vent safely.
This was the other way he thought about. They could travel through the vents to go to the Navigation room to send an emergency frequency to the Air Ship.
If there's a device interrupting the the original server's frequency line, then they just have to find another line to invade the Air Ship's system and ask for help.
Although the Navigation room was meant only to navigate the route of the ship, if White's terminal was connected to it then he could surely use it to navigate frequencies.
Entering the vent, the quietly went to the Navigation. Thankfully the vent connection between the two rooms were short and they made it very quickly.
White slowly opened the lid and observed if there were any sound nearby, confirming that there's none, he immediately got out, locked the door and hurriedly went to do his business.
Red was also helping out the best as he could.
Red was serving as their lookout. He was trying to listen if there were any sound coming towards them.
White didn't take long before he also finished his business and dragged Red to vent and went to the Weapons. White equipped himself with some hardcore looking guns and dragged Red once again, this time they didn't use the vent.
Because the place they were headed for didn't have any.
Red was also dumbfounded with all this dragging and running, before he knew it was inside of a capsule, looking quite similar like the pods earlier. It turns out that White his a space capsules on the lobby.
This was supposed to be his ride when he was done with his mission.
His motive was very obvious, he wants to let Red escape first and let himself handle the rest. For he, himself, isn't sure just how damn long it would probanly take for rescue to arrive nor was he 100 percent sure that help will surely come.
Red protested with all his might. But White was very strong, he couldn't flick the hands that are tying him to the capsule's chairs.
Red's tears started to fall down. Why is this happening? He was supposed to achieve his happily ever after but that ending is obviously not plausible.
But within his blurry vision. He could clearly picture out the thing behind White.
The person who was vilely smiling and pointing out his gun on White. Red could clearly understand that if he didn't do something then, White will surely die.
The desire to protect made Red's adrenaline rush, and the very sturdy and immovable White was shoved to the side before that person could pull the trigger.
B A N G!
The loud sound of the gun echoed and reverberated inside the lobby.
White looked at Red in horror as his beloved person spat out fresh red blood, his gunshot wound was also bleeding a lot.
White's vision immediately darkened. He felt his mind went blank, his heart went numb.
"AAAAAHHHHHH!!!!"
He pulled his gun and shot Code 057. Not just once but he filled Code 057's body with holes, blood splattering everywhere.
White was breathing heavily, the gun slid off of his hand and dropped on the floor, letting out a crisp metallic sound. He slowly made his way to Red whose life and death was still uncertain.
White knelt in front of Red. Piously holding his hand, praying to all the gods to let a miracle happen. He was even willing to sell his sould to the devil if he was given a chance, just to ensure that Red would survive.
"Say. Should I just die with you instead?" White whispered through horse voice, full of pain, full of regret, full of suffering.
"Yes, you should." A voice answered.
White looked at the door with dead eyes and saw Code 015 watching them as if he was watching a show. He didn't even react at the death of his companion.
However, White's eyes just brushed against him in a second before facing Red again. He has obviously already losed all his will, both in fighting and living.
Code 015 laughed at their idiocy, "Well, seems like you wanted to die. Is it painful? Of course it's painful! Code 002, I must be honest, you're strong but...loving someone is your biggest mistake as well as your biggest weakness."
"Goodbye!"
Along with the sound of the trigger, White felt that foreign object piercing through his flesh, but he wasn't in pain at all. Because the most painful thing isn't on the external thing but internal, it was more excruciating that being tortured by a thousand cuts.
It was unbearable.
With blood gushing out from his back, he unbuckled Red from the capsule and laid him in an empty glass casket. Dyeing the sheets blood red, like a red rose blooming in the midst of the winter snow.
White also felt faint from constant blood loss, since the caskets were just below the knee high to begin with one could just sit at the floor and still be able to reach it.
And White did this. He didn't close the casket, instead he sat down, held Red's hand as he also succumbed to the void of darkness.
But before that he was able to let out these three words he thought he might never be able to give to someone.
" I love you, Red."
Then a single tear fell from his eyes. Yes, a person whom all thought was void of any emotions. A person they never once hear complaining, was here shedding a tear for his beloved person.
For the same person who broke the cold walls of his heart. The person who forcefully entered and will never be moved. The person he loved.
Code 015 watched all of this unfold in front of his very eyes. Seeing that it was the end, he just spat out and said:
"Idiots."
.
.
.
Turns out that within the imposter's team, lies another imposter.
An imposter who was much more ambitious and unreasonable than the other. Someone who would do anything to achieve his goals.
White's reason for killing was for the sake of his country but Code 015's reason was for the sake of himself. Both's hands were showered with blood, but their burden of guilt were different.
In the end White is not the real imposter, he was Red's Imposter.
