The rest of the meeting was a blur to Sol. His mind raced, agonizing over the Ilitheal's words - her warning - and he could no longer hear anything else. Pressed tightly against his Master's chest, Sol breathed in the familiar scent, trying to distract himself from the possibility that he may be separated from his Master. The thought scared him. Sol squeezed his Master's firm bicep, nails digging into the bronze skin as he tried to ward off the wave of panic that washed over him. He flinched as a warm weight settled on his head, tensing before relaxing into the touch.
"Sol." At the call, Sol slowly peeked out from the safety of his Master's chest, looking into the concerned golden eyes that studied him fiercely.
Instantly, Sol melted, body turning to jelly underneath the warm gaze, his worry pushed to the back of his mind as his Master leaned down and pressed a brief kiss to his pet's forehead. Then, Sol let his head fall back onto the muscle in front of him, rubbing his cheek over the skin before going still as his Master's fingers scratched lightly at his scalp.
"Earth representative," The elegant voice that had lead the meeting stopped Sol's Master as he began rising to his feet, "I believe we should meet to discuss the issue of the kidnapping as both your and my pets' are believed to be in danger."
His Master hummed, looking down at Sol before nodding his approval. He settled back into the chair, Sol melting into a puddle of soft purrs as the sun's golden ray's regained their place on his body, warming Sol's skin, bringing an easement that didn't quite match the current situation. The Ilitheal seated herself opposite the pair, silently ruffling her own pet's feathers as she observed them, noting the unusual texture of care and sweetness that enveloped Sol and his Master. Then, after sating her curiosity, she spoke.
"As you know, your pet and my Mei-ja are rare," The Ilitheal glanced down at her pet, cupping his cheek as she continued, "I wish for no harm to come to either of them, and thus believe our planets should work together to overcome this... obstacle."
Sol's Master watched her with unhidden suspicion.
"What is it that you gain by helping us?" His words were blunt and careless, but his eyes took in every little movement the alien made.
"It is my duty, as a mother of all races, to guide and offer assistance to new and vulnerable children," The Ilitheal considered her words, pondering over each one as she went, "And I do not need a reason to lend a hand to other's when our interests align."
Sol gazed at his Master through pleasure slit eyes, studying the handsome face that frowned as he came to a decision. The world jumbled as his Master rose suddenly to his feet, upsetting Sol briefly before he sunk back into his Master's arms.
"We should discuss details in a more private space, set a date and we shall continue this conversation in the Cadence." And with that, Sol's Master adjusted his grip on Sol before leaving the meeting room, long legs eating up the ground beneath them, making quick work of the distance between their current location and the hotel.
