A young man with hair black as the night, and eyes, as blue as the beautiful sea. Lily looked into his eyes, compelled to them. She runs toward him and embrace each other, then share a kiss. The dream ends. Left in her bed of white cotton sheets, she thinks of the man she was destined for yet again. Out of her cottage she went, only 19 years old. Walking through the meadow lovely and green, transforms into the woods with trees in every direction. Then, the thunder roars above.
The rain, falling from the clouds grey. Lily now lost in the woods finds herself under a tree awaiting for the weather to change. She shivers in her shoes covered in fallen leaves. Alas, the rain stops, the sky still grey. Sun shines through a small gape in the clouds. The sky then starts to turn yellow, then to orange. The sun starts setting faster and faster and the maiden gets colder and more nervous. Until finally, a castle in the distance. The wind starts howling. She feels compelled to the direction of the place.
As she goes further, the only thoughts in her mind are of the terrors that could be there waiting for her. Still, the force of her feet carried her through the darkness of the forest. The sounds of wolves nearby frightening her, still she keeps going. Branches looking like arms trying to grab her from the shadows makes her mind think of turning back, but she keeps moving forward. Scared and shaking, finally a stone bridge. She walks along trying to stop shaking. The torches on the bridge light up as she moves forward, almost like magic.
As the lovely maiden approaches more and more, she felt a strange desire to knock on the doors. A sinking feeling starts setting in. Still scared, she gets closer to knock on the great doors of spruce guarding the place. As she knocks, 1, 2, 3, the door opens. The wind starts calming as she walks in. Light appears from the darkness of the castle, flames from nothing. Her vison adjusted. Curtains red as rose petals, and walls as smooth looking like silk. She walked closer to the centre of the room, then from nowhere, there he was, the man from her dreams.
With his flowing black hair and gorgeous blue eyes. She drew nearer without a word from either of them, she finds the words she wants to say aloud, but keeps it inside, afraid of what she might say. He started to come closer, faster than she. She stopped in her tracks. Looking at the man she said, “Jonathan.” She ran towards him, he started to run to. They embraced each other with warmth. Then, out of nowhere, with her eyes twinkling from excitement, he took her by her cheek, and he kissed her. Just like her dream.
The sounds of swan lake in her head. She didn’t hesitate and kissed him back, their love now blooming like a tulip in Spring. The forces of love, now bonding them for life.
