INT. MORKANA’S ROOM - DAY
Helen entered Morkana’s room in search of crayons. Like many kids, she searched in the drawers and got curious about some of the items in the drawers, like books and make-up. Luckily for the little girl, Morkana hid her weapons and other more adult stuff in secretive places that required keys and special passwords.
Helen: “Crayons, where are the crayons… Huh?”
Helen found the photo Morkana wanted to rip apart some time ago. In it Flamewing and Morkana looked like a couple. Then Helen got a realization.
Helen: “Daddy and Empress are married! I really have a new mommy!”
The toddler got a huge smile upon “realizing” this.
Helen: “This is why she protects me! She is my mommy!”
Despite only being 3 years old, Helen was very smart for her age and she remembered many things, including how caring her previous mom was. She remembered feeling protected by her mom and that same feeling she felt every time Morkana helped her. Even when Morkana was grumpy and shouted when Helen did something bad, the monarch did many good things for her, like giving her a room with many toys and healing her injuries.
Prince: “Helen, what are you doing in Mom’s room? She will be angry if-”
Helen: “Big brother!”
Prince: “What?”
Helen hugged Prince, confusing him.
Helen: “You are my brother!”
Prince: “Y-You-you know?!”
Helen: “Look!”
Helen showed the photo to Prince, which is something he has already seen.
Prince: “Yes, I know our parents dated years ago, but-”
Helen: “Daddy loves Ms. Empress and we live here! We are a family!”
Prince: “We are?”
Helen: “Yes! Daddy is the dad, Mommy is the mom, Robin is the funny aunt and Karsh is the lazy uncle!”
Prince: “That-that makes sense.”
Prince looked hopeful.
Prince: “If-if we have the same… the same father… then we really are siblings.”
Helen: “Yeah!”
This time it was Prince who hugged Helen and he wanted to cry.
Prince: “I really want him to be my dad!”
Helen hugged back and smiled.
Helen: “He is.”
The two kids then went outside to play tag.
END OF CHAPTER 5
END OF CHAPTER DISCUSSION
Tyrant: "Military action, finally! And it revolves mainly around rescuing civilians... A good long time strategy. And it’s good that Morkana starts to behave, so the reader doesn't have the wish to punch her repeatedly in the face."
Arkana: “That’s my daughter you are talking about, you demonic woman. However, I must agree that it’s good that Morkana is no longer doing petty acts of revenge.”
Tyrant: "It works better with an asshole victim. I liked the marriage proposal in the middle of everything, that was sweet. It would only have been better if that crazy AI had been a part of that proposal. You know, the one from Por-"
Arkana: “No copyrighted names, please, and I did like the proposal too. Sparrow and Owl must have taken years to finally decide to get married. They were practically married in all but name and raised a girl together.”
Tyrant: "And the scenes with the kids are so adorable I feel I might vomit sugar. But... Okay, I like them, I was just saying hyperbole, but Helen vomiting orange onto Morkana was real vomiting... And also very entertaining!"
Arkana: “Morkana herself showered Helen that night to make sure she smelled good. She also tried to check if there were bright blue lines in Helen’s skin, but all she found were some birthmarks similar to those of Prince.”
Tyrant: "This is too obvious. One of the few remaining twists there is an alternate universe but that has its own slew of Problems. Also why no Starfighter action? Dogfights in space are cool."
Arkana: “There were dogfights when this war started, but now that it’s over I can only describe to the readers the aftermath of the war. This conflict was very short in comparison to the war between the Coalition and Blitz.”
Tyrant: "And Flamewing discusses the war efforts effects directly with Morkana. That looks a little bit like nobody outranks Flamewing which is odd, but makes also sense because Morkana seems to be the kind of person who wants a report by a front soldier."
Arkana: “Flamewing reports directly to Morkana because of the agreement they had when he was assigned to the new company. Having an honorable person as your eyes in the military is very convenient and because he is a famous hero he is trustworthy to human recruits. Also, this discussion was very personal to Mork and Flame, more than they would like to admit.”
Tyrant: "That sounds like it goes against the chain of command. I mean Flamewing is only Captain, there are a lot of ranks above him. I guess Ex-Boyfriend is a special rank in Morkana's military."
Arkana: “As my daughter will say, this was one of those ‘off the record’ conversations which makes Flamewing an unofficial Bird, and he even has a name that fits the avian theme. Also, knowing my daughter, she probably has written ‘Ex-Boyfriend’ as his rank just to show she is still angry about what he did.”
Tyrant: "My rank is ‘Sorceress Supreme’. And Morkana called herself a Bitch. So, her rank is ‘Supreme Bitch’?”
Arkana: “I am afraid my daughter’s use of sexist pejorative titles is the result of the toxic aristocratic culture of Blitz and Sparrow’s foulmouthed way of speaking influencing her.”
Tyrant: "So, what else... I like that the characters, well the heroic ones, become more likeable. Character development is always good... So, it makes sense that the characters start flawed. But please, not TOO flawed."
Arkana: “Don’t worry, Arturo isn’t into grimdarkness. His stories may have dark elements, but he is into the hopepunk genre.”
Tyrant: "Is that all? I am running out of things to comment on aside from Helen looking like she wants to initiate a threesome between Morkana, Flamewing and Jen."
Arkana: “She is too young to understand what that means and she doesn’t know yet why women have breasts. Let’s end this chapter now so we can take a break before what will happen next chapter, and believe me, it will get more emotional in the next chapters.”
Tyrant: "I hope it will have innocent nudity of adult characters!"
Arkana: “See you soon, dear readers! Bye!”
Tyrant: “Bye bye!”
