"No."
That one word rang around Luka's head. No. Luka's eyes began to blur again. That no, meant that he wouldn't get the help he so desperately needed to get out of his current situation. Luka turned to look at Yukion. He saw the slightly irritated smile on Yukion's face and searched his mind for any action he could take to help his situation. After running through several plans mainly involving failed attempts at murder, he settled on throwing away the last shred of dignity he had. Luka stumbled forward, out from behind Peter. His vision was blurry due to the tears so he reached out, grasping the edge of the counter. He slowly made his way to Yukion. When he reached the shorter boy, he stood up to his full height. He hovered over the boy, not tall enough to tower over him, but enough to seem intimidating. He wore a scowl and as he looked down at Yukion. He couldn't tell what expression the younger man had on due to his tears but it didn't matter. Luka fell to his knees at Yukion's feet. He grasped hold of the boy's pajama pants. Looking up at where he assumed Yukion's face was, he began sobbing loudly; letting all his emotions run freely.
"Please!" He begged. He didn't care what Yukion thought of him anymore. He needed help and right now, Yukion was the only one who could. Luka was willing to do anything at this point if it would rid him of the nightmares and constant paranoia.
"Yukion! Please!" Luka tugged lightly on the clothes in his hand. He needed a yes. He needed the help.
"No." Yukion said with an unamused tone. Luka stopped his pleas and tugs. Letting go of Yukion's pants he slowly looked down. His knees gave way and he slumped onto the floor, leaning his head against the younger's leg. Luka closed his mouth and silently sobbed. His heart ached at the fact that this problem might never be solved. The corners of Luka's mouth turned up in a smirk. His shoulders began shaking and his hands gripped at air near the linoleum floor. Luka's mind began to go blank. All thoughts of hope and justice left his mind. All that was left was the dark and empty feelings of regret and guilt. Luka's whole body began shaking in time with his shoulders and small giggles could be heard coming from him.
Luka felt a presence move behind him. He was sure it was Peter moving towards him, because he had no idea who the other guy was. Luka couldn't care less about what Peter was doing right now. His mind had gone into chaos. All the negative thoughts built up around him. Stealing air from his lungs and suffocating him in his own mind.
Luka heard a soft whisper enter his ear. He did not listen to it and let it drift away into a recess of his mind. A hand gently placed itself on Luka's shoulder and he burst out cackling. The hand was quick to jump away from the sporadic movement.
Luka's head reared and tears spilled from his eyes. The negative thoughts were increasing the pressure on his lungs and his laugh began breaking. To the ears of the others in the room, the laugh sounded close to choking. The two partners looked at each other worried.
Luka began choking slightly as the air was forced out of his lungs by the pressure he felt in his head. What had previously been a dark overlay over his eyes began lightening as Luka began hyperventilating.
The surrounding walls of negative and chaotic thoughts were smashed down by a hard force against Luka's right cheek. Luka's head swivelled to the left and he stopped laughing. Luka's eyes refocused as his cheek reddened after the impact. The tears that were once flowing freely had stopped and held their place in the corners of his eyes. Luka lifted his hand up to cup his affected cheek. Wincing in slight pain, he removed his hand and let it fall back to the ground, open this time. Once Luka came back to his senses he turned and looked up at Yukion. He saw the boy's hand raised by his head. It was now obvious that Yukion was the one that had struck him.
"Stand up." The command was calm but even Luka could feel the authority that it held. The command had come from Yukion. Luka wondered how such a short boy could hold such power in his voice.
Yukion glared at Luka and Luka stood back up quickly. If the boy had the capabilities of handling Georgie then Luka didn't want to give him any more reason to hate him. He didn't really want to be controlled by one gangster and hated by another. Luka backed off from Yukion, out of range of any attacks from the boy.
Luka watched as the boy took another bite of his apple and walked off around the island. Before he walked through the door he turned his head and looked at the trio of silent and slightly afraid boys. He looked at each of them and glared at Peter.
"I said no strays." With that Yukion walked off.
Luka looked towards Peter. Peter was smiling. Luka wasn't quite sure why.
"I don't know how you do it." Daigo broke the silence. "Ya gotta teach me at some point."
Luka looked towards Daigo, clearly confused.
"Let's go Luka." Peter chirped. "We've caught his interest!"
Luka waited for them to be in his car before he turned to Peter.
"What was that?" He questioned Peter. "He said no! Why are you smiling?"
Peter just smiled harder. "You piqued his interest." Peter pulled out his phone and started playing a simple matching game on it. "He's gonna help you cause he thinks you're interesting."
Luka just sat there with his mouth agape. What had he done to pique a gangsters interest? Luka gulped and started his car. He was gonna find out soon.
