"Where we go?"
Luka zipped up Mika's jacket before responding.
"We're gonna go meet up for lunch with one of Daddy's friends." Luka helped Mika put her shoes on before slipping on his own coat.
The car ride to the Café was short and peaceful. Mika had fallen asleep on the short journey, so Luka had to pick her up and carry her in.
Yukion was busy serving customers, so Luka sat down with Mika at a free table after placing his order. He pulled out his phone and distracted himself.
He was brought out of his senseless scrolling by a text notification. It was Georgie again. Luka quickly ignores the text and puts his phone face down on the table, deciding to instead focus on his sleeping daughter. He leaned his head onto hers, listening to her soft breaths, hoping that Yukion would have a plan to keep her safe. Luka smiled when Mika snuggled closer to him.
"One hot chocolate and a custard slice." Came the gruff voice of a waiter. Luka jumped mildly in his seat, not expecting the waiter to have arrived yet. Luka quickly smiled and thanked the man. Mika had woken up due to Luka's jump. She sleepily smiles up at the waiter.
"He pretty." She states to her father, after he finishes thanking the waiter. Luka gets flustered and begins panicking.
"I'm sorry. She's j-just woken up. S-sorry." The waiter just shrugs it off and walks away, tending to a different table. Luka goes red. Mika ignores her father's state and instead focuses on the sweet treat the waiter had brought over.
Luka sipped on the hot drink, his face still red. He was now watching the waiter who had moved on to other café patrons. Luka admired the way the waiter walked elegantly with his long hair flowing down his back in a single stream. He blushed and looked into his drink when he made eye contact with another waiter who had crossed paths with his waiter.
Luka jumped when Yukion violently sat down in front of him, pulling his laptop out of his bag and placing it in front of him. He watched as the boy noticed Mika, who was too busy stuffing cake in her mouth to notice the new company they had received.
Luka answered every question Yukion asked. He felt relieved knowing that Yukion had plans to help him.
"Could I meet him?" Luka was startled by Yukion's sudden question. The boy had spent the last 20 minutes staring at his laptop screen and paying minimal to no attention to Luka or Mika, who had already gotten bored and fallen back to sleep.
"Uh- uh I-I mean I guess, y-yeah" Luka responded, confused. Yukion didn't explain. He just nodded and packed up silently. Luka didn't stop him, choosing instead to also pack up. Yukion seemed like the type of person who would explain things if they were necessary. It seemed to Luka that it wasn't necessary that he knew the plan. Before he dashed off, Yukion placed something in Luka's hand.
"From Wesker."
Luka just stood there watching Yukion leave. Who was Wesker? He looked down at his hand, wondering what Yukion had given him. It was a small piece of paper. He shoved it in his pocket, planning on checking out what it was later.
Luka put Mika down for a nap in her room before heading into the kitchen. The kitchen seemed to be the place where everything important in his life happened. It was where Blaine died. Where Yukion had made the first few steps towards helping him with Georgie. Luka then remembered the breakdown he'd had in Yukion's kitchen. He wasn't proud of that. He'd have to apologise to Peter, Yukion and his roommate later. Luka picked up the piece of paper Yukion had handed him. He'd said it was from someone named Wesker. Luka shrugged and read the paper. It had a series of numbers and a simple sentence. It read:
'Call me later - The pretty waiter'
Luka blushed profusely at the message and sat down on one of the stools. Now was not the time to start blushing and acting like a love sick puppy. He had more serious issues to deal with like how he was going to keep Yukion a secret while keeping Mika safe. Georgie already knew of her existence and the daycare she went to. That made things really difficult. Luka took a deep breath and calmed down. He'd only just lost his previous partner, he didn't need another one so soon. Luka glanced down at the paper and quickly crumpled it up and placed it in the side dresser. Maybe later. Once all the drama had settled down.
Luka placed the plate of spaghetti in front of Mika, before sitting down with his own plate. The duo ate in silence. It was rare. Normally Mika would have told Luka all about the games she'd played with her stuffies and everything that had happened in her dreams but tonight she was unusually silent. Luka didn't question it. Too busy stuck in his own thoughts. It had been the same ones he'd had earlier that day. The ones of both Georgie and the pretty waiter. They'd been taking turns busying his mind and stopping him from doing anything else productive. He'd even managed to overcook the spaghetti. Luka was awakened from his thoughts when a small hand grabbed at his arm.
"Go 'morrow?" Luka blinked at his daughter's strange sentence.
"Go?" He asked, "Go where?"
Mika just smiled in response.
"To da pretty boy." She stated, looking up at her father, almost begging him to agree. Luka moved his attention down to his daughter, shaking his head.
"No," He said, "We're not going to the Café tomorrow."
Mika pouted and continued to eat her food, ignoring her father. She was upset that she wouldn't be able to see the pretty boy tomorrow.
"You're at daycare tomorrow anyway." Luka continued, attempting to convince himself as much as he was convincing Mika.
