I often hear (usually older white) people complain about how nobody can "agree to disagree" these days. It tends to raise my hackles because it shows their privilege. How lucky for them to have never had to face someone who will say to your face that you don't deserve rights, or even to live. How lucky for them to have never had to fight to be "legal" as you are. Not all of us are so lucky.
